Askia of Songhai has to reject the deal proposed by beautiful Catherine (russian incense in exchange for songhai wine) because Songhai will get its own source of incense in several turns.

Askia also would like to highlight his viewpoint in the conflict broke out between Egypt and Russia. As we know, the cause of this war is the former japanese city of Satsuma. When the Emperor of Japan (Kyp) surrendered and left the game, russians took advantage of stupidity of diplomatic japanese AI to arrange an one-sided peace offer. Under the peace agreement the Empress of Russia seized 2 japanese cities and all the gold from japanese treasury. As soon as the peace agreement lost its effect, the russians took hold by force of the last japanese city.
Once Egypt assisted Japan by gifting the Japanese some military units and sending them considerable amount of gold. So it will be fair if one of japanese cities become part of Egyptian Empire.

Clearly it's a gamble to take side when the outcome of the war is unclear. If fairness issue was raised, Catherine would argue that 2 vs 1 was unfair to the Russians, so we shall not argue this.

The Japanese cities will fall no matter what, the peace treaty didn't speed up any thing, because we have to wait for many turns to calm down the captured citizens in former Japanese cities and the unhappiness from obsorbing all Japaness population. Not to mention our military could continue fighting and gain experience in the process, instead they sit around and Catherine has to pay for their upkeep.

The Russians could have taken the opportunity of peace treaty and continue to go war against Egypt. Egypt would not be able to withstand Russian army 10 turns ago. Now they are prepared and are in equal footing against the Russians. Again, It proves that Russians didn't not exploit the peace treaty.

Aztec people have their own plan, but Russians can hold on our own unless Songhai decides to join in. We don't want to give Songhai the 'fairness' excuse to go war with us publicly.

Oh, I thought it only works in G&K, even then military CS doesn't give UU that's related to a civ in the current game. And russians barely built new units but still managed to reclaim top military. Perhaps Askia should reconsider the value of your alliance with an ugly Pharaoh and embrace the beautiful lady Catherine?
