Lair Redesign

A labyrinth was the prison of the first minotaur in greek mythology, but its just a stupid, senseless, and altogether unimaginative arrangement as a home for minotaurs in the mainstream. Not to mention keeping them to ruins would mean less art required.

yeah hope oprah isn't in development:nope:

Minotaurs, like most creatures would live in a more natural ecosystem like a ruin complex where it can hunt the frequent adventurers visiting the area;)

The Labyrinth? ;)

Why would a labyrinth spawn minotaurs? Everyone knows that the most appropriate creatures spawned from a labyrinth are goblins, and the lair guardian is a unique monster with the name "David Bowie", the only creature in the universe who could challenge Falamar's ability to seduce people.

I hope you grow a sense of humor someday, it could help you not come out as a jerk when you speak.

I am, maybe you should read signatures once in a while.

Not to mention his "Tight Pants of Dance Magic Dance" equipment promotion, which modifies the target's spell resistance by -100%! :eekdance:

(Oh, and I may I claim this as one of the few occasions where the eekdance smiley is completely appropriate?)

A labyrinth, if placed on the map, would be immediately recognizable to players as a minotaur den. It may be stereotypical, but to be frank, that can be a good thing; It makes it that much easier for players to grasp things.

And Opera is a very important member of the RifE team.

But, what if they like labyrinths? Bower birds build complex nests, why not Minotaurs? Maybe they build the labyrinths themselves? Maybe the labyrinth is secreted by the minotaur, like the shell of a nautilus?

It's a fantasy world. That means there's fantasy in it..

It's also worthy to note that, as you point out, myth holds the Minotaur was placed within the labyrinth by his stepfather, King Minos. So, what if Minotaurs are simply subjugated creatures, cursed with guarding whatever terrain feature they're tasked with. A punishment forced upon them by the illegitimate, and pretty disgusting, circumstances surrounding their conception.

A labyrinth also looks like it would have some neat treasure, right? (With chances of getting lost and ending up in a trap, right? But it wouldn't be fun if exploring didn't have negative outcomes :P)

There should be a 5% change for a explorer to get lost forever in a labyrinth. Also, the new hamster civ should get extra treassure from these and never get lost due to... superior maze solving skillz. ;)

Sometimes things design themselves. :p

Instead of the Elephant's graveyard, what about the Unicorn's graveyard? ;)

The Questing ability for the Grigori could make use of some of these lairs. Instead of just running around like boiled ants and getting free XP, they could be required to visit a specific lair to get their XP bonus. The more deadly or distant the lair, the higher the bonus.
