This is an odd issue I haven't run into with other multiplayer games. I have a LAN at my place, and another friend and Civ addict in a nearby town likes to play games with us as well. When a friend is over on the LAn and we attempt to connect to either GS or a Direct IP host, only one of the people on the LAN can connect. the other person just hangs on login.
I ran across this problem with second life, and was able to assign specific ports to each SL client to get around the problem (I use a router). I basically assigned a port in the program shortcut so that each machine only uses the assigned port, avoiding conflicts and packet swaping. WarCraft runs everyone no prob regardless of port setting.
Can Civ handle this play situation, or are we just out of luck? Is there a workaround?
Both comps can connect to the GS lobby or the direct IP, but whoever logs in second, can't connect.
