As a Polish speaker, I am slightly annoyed by the language Jadwiga speaks. It is just modern Polish with a faux antiquated syntax, much like the fiction writer Henryk Sienkiewicz used in his novels at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. And another thing - while the sources record she spoke five different languages, it is not obvious what language Jadwiga spoke most often. Her father was Hungarian and her mother came from the Balkans. She only began to learn Polish when she was ca. 10 years old. We have no idea in what language she communicated with her husband, the Lithuanian Grand Duke and later Polish King Władysław Jagiełło (the Lithuanian Jogaila). This makes her speaking perfect, modern Polish seem even more fake. It contrasts with the likes of Catherine de Medici, who in Civ VI speaks French with an Italian accent and Italian with a French one. Perhaps they should have done the same with Jadwiga, or perhaps stuck to proper old Polish.

I don't have concerns regarding the translations. But I would suggest that you put the arabic right-to-left text into a separate line in the overview post. The left-to-right line break looks weird with the arabic text.

It seems that in-game translation of these lines is messed up. When he declares war it translates as "It is a shame that we must resort to violence, it is not the custom of kings to kill kings.", which is actually his attacked line and when he is attacked the translation says "I warn you against making a habit of shedding blood. Blood never sleeps."

This is a collaborative thread, with many contributions, necessarily, from people who do not speak English as a first language.

If you have a suggestion for improvements to the literal translation of the dialogue, I think it would be more constructive to offer it than to snipe dismissively.

I'm a bit confused by this--so what should the final Attacked/Declare War lines be, and which in-game translations are wrong? The confusing thing is the game also has an ingame translation about never tasting peace until [the player] concedes so we effectively have 3 lines for two. For now, I've put this:

A user from Lingvoforum translated wrote down Genghis Khan's lines and translated them to Russian. He wrote them down in Mongolian Cyrillic alphabet which is used in Mongolia. Translation to English is mine.

I'm betting the in-game text doesn't match the translation of the actual spoken lines, at least not entirely. For example, Gilgamesh says his name twice during his declaration of war, but the in-game line doesn't have that. It would be interesting to know the exact translation for Lautaro's and Gilgamesh's lines.

Yup! In fact, prior contributors to this thread have pointed out some lines don't match the translations given in-game. I added the Gilgamesh and Lautaro stuff to the parent post. For Gilgamesh, in some cases the new text added was that of the transliteration, but nothing has changed in the translations and we are still missing many of the actual (complete) translations, as prior contributions indicated some of the audio and words were unclear (so you will see some minor inconsistencies in the parent post with Gilgamesh in that regard).

RedKhan, many thanks for your amazing work on this, including in the formatting of the translations and transliterations! The in-game translation of Genghis' agenda disapproval line seems rather clumsy. It's grand to know the real translation now.

Glancing over Gilgamesh's lines on the Wikia, I'm pretty positive that most of the in-game translations are not even vaguely accurate. Take the one you referenced when he's attacked: the Akkadian doesn't mention Inanna (or her Babylonian counterpart, Ishtar). At a glance, some of the Akkadian sentences don't even look grammatical (though that's the impression of someone who only has a passing familiarity with Akkadian: I certainly couldn't provide more than an extremely rough mechanical translation of his lines). For an exception to what I just said, the first line of his greeting is definitely both grammatical and exactly what the translation says, though KI.EN.GI is a Sumerogram that ought to be read Šumerû (Šumerī?) by the voice actor.

I personally think the greeting of Qin Shihuang is "今汝之来也，其(qí)欲观秦国山川之盛(shèng)？寡人乃秦之主也"， which could be translated as "Does your arrival/coming today (show that) you want to behold the prosperousness of the Qin State? I am the ruler of Qin."
Some people say that the attacked line should be "敢犯天威， 寡人将发大军，毁汝宗庙，灭尔人民，仕伍皆夷(shì wǔ jiē yí)！", the last sentence could be translated as "All of (your) armies shall be smashed", the word "夷" is originally "sweep away".

So, at the moment we have - Hungary with Matthias Corvinus who will most probably speak Hungarian (should be easy to find somebody who will translate)

Also there are leaks that there will be
Incas - probably some variant of Quechua. I hope somebody will be able to help. As far as I remember in the thread about the previous installation of the game the lines of Pachacuti were not written down and translated, but they are now in the Wikia.
Māori - most probably Māori language. Anybody from New Zealand here?
Ottomans - this one intrigues me the most. I wonder if it will be plain modern Turkish or proper Ottoman language. I speak the first but if it's the latter it will be difficult for me (or anybody else who knows modern Turkish) to translate, since it's quite different.
