I'm in a bit of a pickle...

A few minutes ago a gaggle of LDS missionaries came to my door. I'm the only one home, and I talked to them for a bit. They were really nice, so I didn't want to be rude and ask them to leave. We talked for a bit, they asked if we worshipped or anything, I said I was atheist. After a bit more talking they asked if they could come back to talk to the whole family. I said I didn't mind. (Really, I didn't want to be mean...)

So they are coming back on Tuesday night.

Feel free to share any ideas, and your experiences with LDS missionaries!

Forunately I did not had any encounters with any LDS missionaries.

I'm already a Roman Catholic Christian and happy to be one :).

LDS? Surely you mean the Liberal Social Democrat missionaries?

Did they showcase the advantages of poligamy like threesomes in the form of shall we say educational videos?

If missionaries are polite, I dont mind

I don't! I just didn't wanna be mean.

Personally, I think the thing thats the most mean is to pretend like you aren't home, or leave that day. We get people setting up appointments and ditching us all the time...it sucks for us, because then it messes up the shedule for the rest of the day.

The message doesn't take very long, and they prob. aren't major tools, so you might actually be interested in it. If you *really* dont want to listen, just call 'em up and tell them that you talked with your folks, and they dont think its a good idea of the missionaries to come over. They ought to back off then. We dont like to cause family strife.

There are tons of Mormons by my house who do missionary work (it seems to be a seasonal thing). Anyway, the first couple times I was stopped, I politely talked to them without trying to be mean... but by the 5th or 6th time they tried to talk to me (understandable, as how is one missionary supposed to know another has already spoken) I would run away down the street. It was kind of funny when they would sort of run after me trying to wave me down. They had big smiles on their faces though, so mostly I just found it funny and just sort of waved back in a "see ya suckers" sort of way.

I don't mind listening, I'm not converting or anything though. Also, they didn't give me thier phone numbers.

It sounds better than the ones who came to my house the other day. They gave me a flyer, saying "this is for you to read so you don't go to hell" and they said goodbye and left.
They weren't LDS missionaries, I don't know what group they belong to and I don't care at all.

A point of curiosity that came up in a recent conversation: is there an easy way to distinguish LDS missionaries from Witnesses by appearance? I'd like to be able to ignore JWs without inadvertently being rude to Mormons.

Nah I generally lecture missonaries on bible history :D
(they get scared and then make excuses to leave its TRUE)

We have Witnesses come to our place occasionally. They leave that book Awake! every time they come. Gah

Mormons have hot girls. JWs don't.

I used to experience LDS missionaries in Hong Kong. I used to do all sorts of things to tease them and stuff.

I regret doing it now 'cause I was acting like a real jerkoff to them too. :( Even after they were so nice and showed no malise.
