I have my visual settings on low on my Mac for leader scene quality. However certain leaders in the game never work. Russia, Korea, the Aztecs, and a few others consistently fail to load properly. They are slow and blocky and never fully load. Also accepting or rejecting deals takes longer from these civs. I really want leader scenes on, and many civs' scenes work just fine, but some won't for some reason.

I also have a problem with leader scene's.

Game runs fine generaly, but when I contact other leaders, it loads the leader but it doesn't load dialog box, text for conversation, negotiating menu, etc. I must exit the leader scene screen by clicking escape button.
What is strange is that when the other leaders contact me, dialog box appears fine and we can negotiate. But sometime when they are informing me something, text doesnt appears. Don't know what to do.
I tried with various of video/graphic settings modifications but it doesn't makes anything better.
And this appeared when I have installed the a "Update 9 Multiplayer Playable", (version is 1.0.1.348) (and I have make it for single player like it says in directions for install).
Playing on DX 11. When I try to play on DX9 it is having some loading problems...

Please try to validate the integrity of the game files:
In Steam, go library -> games -> civ5 -> rightclick -> properties -> local files -> validate integrity of the game files.
That should download some corrupted files (...probably some text files) and the problem should be solved.

I installed new expansion and started a new game. The diplomacy screen is static when Leader Scene Quality is set on medium, but when it's low, it works. Is that a common problem, or just me?

Only for some users who have not that strong graphics cards (the additional stuff from G&K just seems to stress some weak cards over the limit).

You might want to check if disabling automatic interface scaling/down scaling in the graphics options menu from Civ5 fixes the problem.

Firaxis just brought out a patch for the game that seems to have reversed some coding. It has caused a lot of strange things to happen. They seem to be working on resolving it.

So are you enjoying the animation?

Yeah, now it works on medium also. Thanks.

Well... I am totally reviving the dead here I suspect, but I never really replied back with specs... I'm not a very tech savvy fella so...not really sure what is required info so imma just copy and paste what the computer tells me...

Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro8,1
Processor Name: Intel Core i7
Processor Speed: 2.7 GHz
Number of Processors: 1
Total Number of Cores: 2
L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB
L3 Cache: 4 MB
Memory: 4 GB

and because this is graphics...?
Chipset Model: Intel HD Graphics 3000
Type: GPU
Bus: Built-In

Is it just my machine is too weak to handle leader scenes? Why do only some totally fail yet others function fine? (I would post a screenshot, but it would look normal... the scene is largely just a wee bit blocker and waaaay slower (and the audio aient a perfect match either)

Seeing that you were having problems 7 months ago, I would say yes. I am not an expert on Macs though. There is a mac sub-forum though that may offer more help.

If your video card can even display the game, it is probably not the GPU per say. There could be corrupted files or drivers that are causing the issue.

Okay, so it wasn't just me.... good, I'll check some setting stuff.

I've recently been having issues with leader screens swapping to still images (set on medium) after long periods of gameplay but a client restart would fix it (assumed it was clogged virtual memory); however, Pacal has NEVER animated - even after a fresh reboot/hard-drive maintenance session - so I'll assume he's more intensive than the other leader scenes and check my video settings (maybe try low instead of medium).
