I installed the no-DRM direct2drive Civ ultimate (or whatever the pack with vanilla/warlord/bts/colonization is called) on my new W700 a few days ago. This is a pretty serious Lenovo "laptop" with discrete graphics, 4GB ram, a 2GHz quad core CPU, etc. It's running an up to date 64 bit Windows 7.
I also have the same set of Civ installed on my desktop machine here, which is a small form factor Lenovo machine running Vista 64.
It runs great on the Vista machine. Nooooooo problems.
The W700's graphics are considerably better than those in my desktop (graphics WEI of 6.7 on the W700) and the responsiveness in the game is fantastic at 1920x1200. But ... the leader screens and the adviser screens take a long time to open up. As in, 5-20 seconds from the time you click on a leader's name until the window with the talking head shows up. Same deal with the city adviser and all the other things that open up windows.
Any theories?
