Legendary Earth Mod (LEM)

Did ocean oil resources disappear? or am I doing something wrong? There usually is oil in the north sea and by southern Aussieland but no more...

at Dark_Jedi06. What you have just produced is a masterpiece (you must be very skilled) and in relation to map design a dream come true! however i would like you to make some modifications. i have tried modding myself but it seems i am not as skillful as you guys. Can you remove England and Germany from the Pacific islands and south America in the scenario as in reality thows civilizations did not start at thaws locations and because they are coppys of the English and German civilizations already on the map.

Are you able to add the Ethiopian, Mayan, Viking, Zulu and Inca civilizations from Hukkak Revised Extra Civs Pack (v 4) to the map in their realistic starting locations. Can you also add to the African continent the Carthaginian Civilization (v 5) by Steve 'Molnutz' Molnar, Nubian Civilization (v 4) by Optik "flo", Kingdom of Kongo (v 1) by Nikolaj Cyon and Kingdom of Morocco (v 2) by Emerald Knight also in their actual starting positions.

This is for two reasons: 1 Africa had loads of highly developed civilizations before the colonial period and to just show two is not an accurate representation of the continent 2 with only Songhai and Egypt on the continent if i play as any the world is mine with relative ease as no one can compete with the massive amounts of city's, land and resources these two have at my disposal including me when i play as another civilization in the scenario. moreover the other African civilizations need to be put in so that you don't end up with Egypt or Songhai dominating and because it improves the overall accuracy of the map. it will also be necessary remove city states from the game that are representations of the above civilizations as having multiple city's with the same name and civilizations is not necessary.

In my first game with this map (on King level) I decided to play aggressively and war-minded in Europe, so I picked Germany, because an early advantage such as a massive barbarian army would have done well to my expectations. This didn't happen, because in the whole Europe there was only one encampment somewhere near Helsinki, probably due to overcrowding in the area. :D

But regardless, I beated the game achieving a Time Victory after having absorbed Rome, Amsterdam, France, Spain, Greece and England, with an empire spanning from Spain deep into Russia, allied with Stockholm and Helsinki, with big colonies in Africa and Australia and an early settlement in Greenland, looking forward for an expansion in America. My last effort was a total war against Egypt for the control of the Mediterranean. ;)

Currently I am playing as the Egyptians. :egypt:
I'm in the Industrial Era and I'm largely at the top of the ranking, thanks to my loyal builders of wonders (Great Library, obviously Pyramids, Notre Dame, Chitzen Itza, Forbidden Palace, Big Ben, Cristo Redentor ;) ) and I'm aiming at total control of Africa. I immediately took over the Mediterranean coastline and soon went to settle upstream the Nile river. But the more I went south, the more my cities were suffocated by growing Songhai expansionism and I had no choice but to declare war on Askia.

After 300 years of warfare I beated the heck out of him and paved my way towards an entire Egyptian-populated Africa! I had never fought so many musketmen before, and Mandekalu Cavalry will haunt my nightmares for years to come. Maybe I took too long, but I also had to defend my borders from a backstabbing Arabia (friends with me since the beginning) and from a full-scale oversea invasion attempt from Rome.

I'm planning a domino-like conquest of all the city-states in Africa, starting from Eko and M'banza Kongo. What social policy branch is better for me to choose now? Order to build up my cities well & fast, or Autocracy for defensive warfare?

But anyway, I really thank you for the awesome and well-built map! You have all of my respect! :)

And sorry for uncorrect English, I'm from Italy!

Thank you all for your comments and I'm glad that so many people enjoy the map.

I've been very busy as of late and that has stalled the release of the next version as I've only been able to conduct minimal playtesting. I will try my best to finish the next version up soon so you can all enjoy it. :)

You're welcome. ;)

Oh, and if I can help with the placement of the new Denmark Civilization, you could make an island between mainland Europe and Scandinavia (Copenhagen isn't actually on the Jutland Peninsula) where to place the first Viking Settler. I hope this will come in handy. ^^

Dear Dark_Jedi06,

May I request that I use your superior map to make my own scenario in Civilization V?
I will make it so that I put your name under the fellows who participated on making said mod if you oblige.

Anyway very Awesome mod indeed

That's fine, thank you for asking before hand. :)

I wish you success in your endeavors. :D

Dear Dark_Jedi06,

I thank you for a swift reply on this matter but unfortunately I wasn't able to load your map due to technical difficulties so I'll make a fresh map with yours as a guide.

Your Friend and Fan,
HisAwesomeness

P.S.
Keep being Awesome

hey i was playin this with marathon speed setting and after a while I noticed that the year was stuck on 3998 BC? Any idea how I could fix this? otherwise nice map

I am having this same problem. The offshore oil resources are there on the map. I can see them in World Builder and the in-game cursor indicates that oil is present in the proper hexes. They seem to be invisible.

BTW, this is a great map. I've been having lots of fun with it. I have spent a couple dozen hours playing with it.

I only have a few of criticisms of an otherwise excellent map:

Singapore and Jakarta city-state starting points are too close together. Jakarta settles first in turn 1 and then Singapore has to move up the coast to settle. I recommend that you manually place the cities of Jakarta and Singapore. No player playing any civilization would know the difference because they are city-states that are very far away from any civ's starting point.

I think that ships and several modern land units should have their movement rates increased. This is because of the scale of the map. Such changes should be done carefully in order to not upset game balance too much. For example, it just seems illogical to me that it would take a battleship over a decade to travel around the world.

Perhaps some of the air units should have their ranges increased. Not by much. And maybe this would only apply to the stealth bomber. I'm not too sure about this recommendation. It's just an idea.

Every time i try to play v11 of this Mod, no matter what faction i select, it always starts with the Americans... Any idea how to fix this? Help very much appreciated!

I seem to have the same problem except I get stuck as Harun al-Rashid. This didnt happen before the patch sso I wonder if that has something to do with it. Also, this doesnt happen when I dont load the LEM scenario. This sucks cuz I wanted to play as Bizmarck.

I've played this before and I liked it, but I have a problem now, ever since I got Spain, Inca and Polynesia every time I tried to play this as what the game calls the aztecs I end up as the Americans instead, selecting the Americans hoping that it would go to "aztecs" didn't help, neither did uninstalling or reinstalling the mod and deleting every other mod I had that could be deleted, I don't know if this is a problem with your mod or if it's a problem with my game but it's a real pain in the ass

Been away for awhile, unfortunately I have painfully slow internet access at home...will look into updating the map when I am finally able to actually download the new patch (once I can afford a quality wireless card).

I leave for vacation in a week so there will be a delay, sorry for the inconvenience but summer is always a busy time for me. Glad to see the map continues to generate such interest.

This is a problem with the new civ 5 update. Or at least I did not have this problem before the update, and now I do. With other mods too.

The work around I use it to open the LEM(DLC) map into the editor. Set whatever civ I want to play (MyCiv) as civ number one in the list of civs. Then whatever civ was in the first spot goes into the spot in the list that MyCiv was in. Then on the map check and edit the starting location of those two civs to make sure they are both in the right place.

Save map.

Now you have a map that will start as MyCiv no matter what civ is specified when starting a new game. Not perfect but workable.
