Let your fingers do the flying

I haven't but I've been informed you can see area51 on it, but no English military establishments strangely enough? Perhaps the US has exported all it's UFO's to the UK?:)

Just with loading ...lotsssss a loadin :king:

I had an idea that the Image of area 51 wasn't current, that a colonel(as a joke, amongst his colleagues) has sent google live feed of a studio some miles away that recreates a scene where you can zoom right in and watch alien landings happen all the time, and greys walk amongst the army base smoking fags and chatting with the natives :D Just an idle dream but I think that would be a hilarious idea for a filmette :D just imagine the News story the next day, is this footage for real or a hoax, US secret alien diplomacy revealed!!

God with lag.... there's a thought, could be why we haven't heard from him in so long. 'God has quit Earth (ping timeout)'

I live in Scotland, needless to say the zoom here ain't all that great

I just typed in Cornwall and got sent to a town called Alpha B in France... :hmm: Conspiracy theories are welcome.

Surprisingly, you can actually see some cities in Romania. :)
I can't access G Earth from home ... the loading times would be just like in civ3.

Resolution is utter crap on my area of the world, what a jip. serves me right for living near not in a major city I supose:(

Resolution on the castle is excellent though, I can nearly read the inscriptions on the tomb stones in there, nah just kidding. Can make out every grave clearly though, which is good.

Well I can see all the military bases in my area and yup apparently can see area 51, no UFO's yet though ;)

You guys cant be looking close enough, i live in New Zealand and if there is anywhere they were going to leave off the map it would be my house but here i am.

It wants me to download new software every time I use it, so I eventually just stop.

I love exploring the mountain ranges. Last fall I did a little 'map' pionting out my whole Mountain trip from last year.

The reason Truronian feels unfairly treated by Google Earth's zoom

azzaman333's house is visible on Google Earth! (even though it wasnt a month or 2 ago.

I live at #14, the green border shows the borders of the land. Red dot is where i am currently sitting (which is at my computer). Yellow dot is my bedroom, which is the smallest in the house... :(

Here's a little Google Earth game a friend of mine and I played while we were stoned out of our minds and waiting for someone to pick us up from his place:

Voyages!

These can be sea or airborne and are quite interesting. Simply choose an interesting place to start, zoom in so there's good detail but not too close, tilt the map so you can see some horizon, find a bearing on the compass and...........set sail! (Setting sail means you 'jog the map', give it a little push with the mouse, so that the view glides over the surface. Then just kick back and watch the world roll by beneath you).

We took a sea journey across the Atlantic, from Cornwall in England heading out west, south west. It brought to mind those transatlantic journeys from the Age of Discovery. We were just dying to see land, any land. Turns out we'd sailed right into the Gulf of Mexico, passing Florida and much of the Caribbean out of sight.

Another we took was from Japan south through the Spice Islands. That was most picturesque. A journey from Germany to Vietnam was similarly fascinating.

Another thing that's cool is taking a journey like this over the poles. Watch the compass when you do...
