Let's Discuss Poland

then wouldn't that mean that NO ONE ELSE CARES ABOUT HAVING POLAND IN CIV.?

it's the prefect case of 'put up or shut up'...if YOU of all people can't even get ONE game going with a poland including mod...obvisouly there's zero demand for it on the multiplayer market.

No it's like "WHY WOULD ANYONE DOWNLAOD A MOD? IT COULD HAVE VIRUSES, IT COULD HAVE GLITCHES, IT MAY MAKE THE GAME LAG, WE WASTE TIME, ALL FOR JUST ONE RANDOM PERSON I HAVE NOT MET AND NEVER WILL AND A PERSON I DON'T CARE ABOUT COULD PLAY A GAME WITH ME that kinda thing...

ok, please explain to me:
-how would a virus be stored in XML files
-who would actually go through the trouble of putting a virus in a mod
-who doesn't run an anti-virus program

also...any virus/bug/lag issues would be spotted within the first game or two.....i'm not talking about grabbing a new mod every single time you play...the mod is just posted on here and everyone can grab it if they want to play with poland included...it's really quite simple.

WE WASTE TIME, ALL FOR JUST ONE RANDOM PERSON I HAVE NOT MET AND NEVER WILL AND A PERSON I DON'T CARE ABOUT COULD PLAY A GAME WITH ME

if you don't care about them and have such a low opinion of them why are you playing with them in the first place?

surely with your winning personnality you can connect with a group of like-minded pro-polish players and establish an on-going group.

Well the same thing could be said about why would you be discussing this with me? I don't care about, mainly because i never met you. But i'm discussing this with you aren't i?

the annoying thing is that the "we demand you add country X as a civ" ppl could simply mod it in themselves and it would take .00001% of the time and effort they've put into whining about it in the forums.

it took me all of 40 minutes to mod my first custom civ following a tutorial.
Show me that tutorial. If you're right, I will be able to a Swedish Civilization!

Pretty please with sugar on it! :please:

If you want to create a polish civ, all you have to do is mod/ duplicate a few lines of xml and shouldn't be terribly hard to do. Then you and all your polish friends can play mp with this mod on and you can all play poland... just don't expect anyone else to dl it.

you mean having a knight?

Why would it be a knight? I'm pretty sure this Polish Golden Age you keep going on about was MUCH MUCH later than Knights. The Civs that get a UU to replace Knight all came along long before Poland. Poland's UU should come around same time as the other Northern European powers... I would have the Polish UU replace Cavalry or Cultraissers, you know, if Poland belonged in the game... :)

the thing is that Winged Hussars have lances.

cuirassiers are guys with guns...

knights are guys without guns...

hmm.

As of BtS, Spanish Conquistadors replace Cuirasseers even though they use swords.

Well, clearly not Cavalry. The Polish Power period was probably about 1385 - about 1600, with the new rules I would probably replace Cuirassers, but Knights in second place. They were mostly a pre-gunpower force. After all, if the Mongols replace horse archers when their power period was the 12th - 14th century, we can probably justify knights also, but I agree curaissers is best. (I think it's the Mongols that are wrong).

The Hussars that were the base of the army became heavier cavalry as time went on, though. Note taht they were still a power even after the 'Deluge', winning battles like Chocim, Lvov, and helping the Austrians against the Turks during the great seige.

Best wishes,

Breunor

Not really, no. I mean, it's pretty sad actually, while others where using guns, Polish troops relied on melee weapons. No offence, but Poland certainly doesn't deserve to be in Civ.

^melee weapons, including mounted lancers, were used by European armies as late as the time of Napoleon.

pikes also only came out of style around the 1600s, during the end of Polish power.

Yes but Cuirassur isn't exactly Winged Hussar. A Winged Hussar IMO is more comparable to a Knight then to a Cuirassur. Calvary came later.

hm.

We had 1 matchlock musket on the Winged Hussar, that is why so many people think it's a Cuirassur.

Doesn't that tell you something about why Poland shouldn't be in Civ?

HAHAHA, And the fact that possibly the strongest Calvary unit in the world at that time is nothing to joke about.

I thought the first winged hussars appeared in the late 14th century...

the end of polish power was 17th century but ok...
