Let's get a game going. Emperor Training

turn 150:
Spoiler :

rome declared war on me.
i upgraded a couple warriors and took care of their troops, bought a trebuchet and slowly slogged my way over to take their cities. my troops at this point are 2 caravels, 2 longswords, 1 pikeman, 1 warrior.

i'm allied with most of the maritime cs.
madrid has 17 people and is about to complete ironworks,
i have 3 other cities with 17,9,8 and 5 people... i put barcelona next to old faithful early for the 4 science/turn but it hasn't grown well with the lack of food there and the science focus. i'll have 3 puppets when cumae falls.
i missed the great barrier reef initially, so i missed out on that 800 gold.

Here's mine at turn 150

Spoiler :

I had some happiness to spend and hadn't improved my ivory yet, so I went after Nobunaga right away. What a lightweight. Four swordsmen and he went down. For some reason he hadn't improved his luxuries yet. In fact, none of the city-states improved any calendar luxuries until like turn 100. Is that normal on Emperor? Seems really late to me.

I took a break to upgrade to longswords and build some coliseums before going after Askia. He didn't fare much better, but in his defense, I had stronger units.

I razed one of his cities so I wouldn't get too unhappy. Plan to rebuild it later. Askia didn't improve ANY of his pearls and he's got like a billion of them. Geez. What a pain.

I built the Oracle and got Theocracy during all this. Also built Pyramids. Wonders are easy to get on Emperor. I'm working on the Chichen Itza now. I'm able to build caravels, but I don't want to meet anyone until after Caesar is dead. I'm not 100% sure how it works. It seems like I should be able to meet them and just not mention Caesar, but no need to risk it because it won't take long to get him. He's expanded out to three cities. They'll make good puppets.

I'm still first in literacy and basically everything except happiness. Need my puppets to build some more coliseums. My economy is in great shape at 77 gold per turn and I spawned a great scientist just from having the Great Library and the Oracle. I'm holding him for now.

So I need to clean off Caesar's last three cities and then get some caravels out. I have oodles of extra resources to sell, so I should be able to make even more money and get some research agreements. However, one unmet player has already lost his capital. That means of eight capitals, only four are in original hands. It's probably easiest to just go knock out the other three in which case I'm wasting time by delaying this meeting to keep relations positive. But not very much time.
