Obviously this is a forum and as such people should be able to come out with what is on their mind. At the same time programmers cannot adapt every single idea that our enthusiastic community comes up with. Also we need to have the team working on graphics and coding the mod as much as possible instead of answering questions and requests maybe based on personal preference.
But then again, community should also be involved...

Solution (if the team desires):
So when people have ideas, come proprose them in the Twitch channel first. We will have plenty of time to talk them through and can even discuss them with the game open, plus it shows more newcomers what a great and active community we have.

We will make a 'monthly report' with the top 3 best game improvement proposals + a bullet list of most important balance change suggestions from community and post these in the forums to discuss with the team.
As community we should always consider the key points: [game balance], [historical relevance], [game play], [ease/ realism of implementation], [overall goal of this mod] (compared to other mods).

The team will absolutely never be able to adopt more than max three community features on top on their own per month anyway so lets filter a bit and only propose what is the most important/ wanted ones. This should lead to a larger community and more frequent and better features and releases which is really what we all want.

Of course. :)

True.

Yes, it is difficult to spend time on both, implementing the features and discussing ideas of community. :dunno:
But it is necessary, because we need to understand our community.

Sure, you can discuss new feature ideas on twitch. :)

But please, also discuss here with us in the forum.
It is easier for us modders to keep track and it is our central communication platform.

Yes, please.
That is what community should think about first. :)
We - the team members - can then think about effort, performance, stability, side effects, ... and all the other technical stuff.

This should lead to a larger community and more frequent and better features and releases which is really what we all want.
The only thing that will really lead to "better features" and "more frequent releases",
is team members and supporters that are willing to invest their time and effort.
But a larger community can be a great help to find more of these people.

----------

Summary:

Community involvement is important. It is our best chance to get player feeback and to find all small bugs and issues.
Also many good ideas can come out of discussions and brainstorming with community.

Development will only speed up though if we find more supporters and team members from community.
In the end, the team members will always have to do the most of the work though and we also have real life.
We do not lack ideas - we lack people with skills, time and motivation and share our vision to work on this project.

Especially at the moment, times have become a bit difficult - many team members are sick. :c5unhappy:
We are still progressing though, however at a slower pace. Thus currently features and releases take a bit more time.
Please have a bit of patience.
