Let's play CIV5 II starting on monday

If you didn't luck out with so much iron, what would you have done instead? I usually have a dearth of iron near my start and never really know how to proceed except teching to rifles or changing my strategy and going for a more peaceful victory.

Rome usually starts on a spot with at least a small node (2 iron) nearby, although I did play games with Rome without iron. It sucks. There is more than one way to get iron though. It is quite common for city states (especially those in tundra or desert) to have iron, and you can always try to buy iron from a friendly AI. The cost is 200:c5gold: per 5 I think, which is reasonable. You could also trade away a luxury resource and the AI might even throw in something extra.

Or I could've just walled in and used the Glory of Rome to build up science infrastructure and rush for Rifles. But that probably wouldn've been so exciting.

Im just reloading everytime your youtube's channel hoping theres a new part :D

The second segment of Part One will be up in an hour or so (connection to youtube broke again), and the first segment of Part Two will be available around 4 AM CET (if the connection doesn't break again).

adding this info in the commentary might be a good idea for youtube viewers

The Persians come out to fight! What a great ending! I have to watch part 2 and see what happens.

Great videos. I can see that the AI needs improvement in a huge way. Hopefully, that gets taken care of upcoming.

Ye i agree with most ppl above, very fun to watch cannot wait for part two with Nebe, I recall seeing him at the top of the pointiest sticks list by about 3-4x you so it should prove to be interesting.

Hey B, I noticed in your first post, you said the world would be 5 billion years old, but on the video you set it at 4 billion years.

Oops, but he can't start over now. It is a good game so far.

watching part II 1/4
- love how much info you give on pre-war strategy
- rushing into war, and not scouting is dangerous though
- but will likely work regardless with your strategy
- UU's (unique unit) special ability to Road speeds up assault and earlier trade route for puppet city
- a worker that can fight, awesome

Bibor,

The Infoaddict and Resource Panel... how do you use them in game once you have them installed? Are they part of the normal user face or do you have to press certain keys to get them up?

Thanks.

Your series are really good. You have a good voice and speak at a nice pace that goes along with the game, plus the information you're providing is quite thorough.

Cheers!

Jumped on this last night, entertaining stuff, really didn't see the end of Part I coming! Look forward to seeing how you responded to that, as it's a situation that throws me right off my game when it happens to me

I finished watching part II, very interesting so far. You make it look so easy, even in the face of what would otherwise appear to be reasonably difficult opposition. I guess some of what happened highlights the ineptitude of the AI (like virtually gifting you its three catapults).

I figured that one out, it's not AI ineptitude. It's an error in AI coding. Siege weapons should be forbidden to scout (archers also actually) for enemy units.

I am enjoying watching your videos on youtube. You do a good job of explaining strategy and tactics. I love the avatar from Dr. Stranglove. I can not listen to you talk without thinking of Peter Sellers and that movie.
