Let's Talk About Science Fiction

What're some of Egan's better works.

Like many of the "ideas first" type of writers he is, IMHO, at his best when writing iin the shorter form so that the usual expectations one has of a novel-sized work do not come into play. There are three different collections that cover most of his shorter work: Axiomatic, Luminous and Oceanic. I'd recommend that you check out the first of those to begin with.

Aw, Robert Silverberg missed us! :) I belong to his Yahoo! group, and found this in my email this morning. I guess we've all been a bit busy lately.

What the heck is a Yahoo? I'm sorry, I'm not well read in my prehistory.

Yahoo is a company some people use for free email accounts. It also supplies news, weather, and hosts many thousands of groups. I own and/or moderate some of those groups and am a member of others. Robert Silverberg prefers to use a Yahoo! group to interact with his fans, instead of Facebook, Twitter, or other social media sites.

I recently tried reading Iain Banks' Consider Phlebas, but about halfway through I realized it wasn't homework and I didn't need to finish it. I kept hoping the main character would get sucked into the engines of one of those kilometers-long ships. Oh well.

otoh, I'm looking forward to James Corey's Cibola Burn.

I am being facetious.
