Let's Vox Populi! (#3)

Map Type: Pangaea

Planet age: Normal

Difficulty setting: Emperor or higher. If someone wants to conquer a city-state they should need to work for it. Also if everyone is building things slightly slower, there might be a bit more time before someone starts snowballing.

Hey if you guys need another player im interested if its hotseat mode. Im available every day just not at a consistent time. So with hotseat id be able to commit to multiple turns a day.

Id also possibly be able to comit to occasional days where we try to bang out a bunch of turns on a given day.

Also id recomend oval map just because it seems to have offered a consistent balanced map for when me and my buddie played.

Lemme know if yall are in need of another player.

I'm really not sure there is a full roster. The last two players on the list haven't posted for a month. I'm not saying boot them out, but it is worth poking them to see as we have spares

I still plan to look into hosting a pitboss, but I won't be doing it before I know for sure that I won't make it into this game.
I found some tools that will likely make everything that I want to do possible, but it could be a fair bit of work.
My server machine is two flights of stairs from my main computer, and I recently broke my big toe, so running back and forth fifty times to test everything isn't something I'm too keen on doing right now :)

That's a good point. Maybe in a little while HorseshoeHermit can post a deadline for them to respond and if they don't, Amask and greenfieldpark get the final 2 slots.

Doodles, you get to rank a second choice after the first choice. You've voted for middle-aged Pangaea. If you are equanimous to the others, then your ballot is not counted to the 2nd-preference tally of any candidate.

I have messaged poked everyone who hasn't posted in a bit.
That's a good idea.

I'm still looking for those mode votes. I figure that the need to vote on something becomes a reason to post in the thread. What I'm unsure of is how frequent to assume that anyone on this board visits civfanatics. 2 weeks has to be enough though, so, by Monday, I'll move on from anyone who has not voted and get Amask + others into the roster.

I didn't intend us to pick the difficulty yet; I figure that could be the last decision (before picking Civs).

Votes counted:
L = Old, M = Middle ; P = Pangaea, O = Oval
[LP, MP] , [MO, LO] , [MP, LP] , [--] , [LP, MO] , [MP, MO] , [MO , LO] , [LP, MP]

Remember it's instant runoff voting.

Since I got poked, update:
I'm up to play but worried somewhat about my schedule.
I wanted to join an acting club which happens Wednesday+Thursday, and I'll be moving my WoW raid days soon, plus my uni schedule is also changing in January. Probably better to pick someone else unless I can get a clearer picture before you start.

Got a no from Milae, so that is everyone accounted for. So we just need to work out what to do.

I think we need to be able to get together for the first 50 or so turns. Later turns being slower is fine, but if the first 50 takes a year it will be very hard to sustain interest.

I worry I'm mismanaging the details from here until starting the game. I don't really know what I'm doing :hammer:
Just mainly need to see us agree on map settings and a difficulty level and if necessary I'll edict the rest of it.

STEPHEN HOFFMAN needs to vote. Also Rongute's vote amounts to a no-ballot because there is no first-preference (the markings from the first tie onward are erased in this voting procedure).

I'm entering my vote as Old Pangaea, #2 Middle-Aged Oval.
Old Pangaea will probably win?

edit: I'll also mention, I feel like a .. significant new version would be coming down so I'm anticipating delaying our start until that. I think what we want is to play on the most-bugfixed iteration of the VP before a new-features (and new stability risks) release.

My votes would be Middle Pangaea, then middle oval

Map Type 1: Middle Aged Pangaea

Map Type 2: Old Pangaea

Planet age: Normal

Difficulty setting: Emperor or higher.

Fully agreed there. I'm really glad we're gonna be starting after the CBP team just gave Order T-34s. If we make it that far, those'll be really fun to use I bet.

Edit: So to be clear... since Grassland Farm suggested another person until the Farm has clarity, that means greenfieldpark is in, right?

Looks like that to me. So then, counting greenfieldpark's vote as "LO/MO" tied first, we are missing two votes. 1 vote.

I'm updating the first post with Milae's resignation, greenfield's entry, and a ? for Grassland Farm. Also my post #90 will be fixed with the recount I just did here on notepad++.

greenfieldpark, though, you do know that selecting two options tied for first just deletes your vote, right? It counts as a multiple ballot for first preferences so it just eliminates itself.
Same for Rongute.

Sorry not following.
What do you need my vote on?
For map i prefer oval to pangea.
For ocean i dont have a preference.
Rainfall, temp, age of planet im good with whatever.
Resources strategic.
Time victory i prefer off.
Difficulty diety with raging barbs.
Ancient ruins on.
Tech trading off.

These are my preferences but im actually open to anything and would not be upset if none of my preferences were chosen.

Oh also i would prefer simultaneous turns pitboss mode. It gives early risers and advantage (which i am not) but would rather get as many turns in weekly as possible.
