Libby Sentenced to 30 Months in Jail

First, Plame was not some Mission Impossible jacked-up super ninja, she was a government bureaucrat; she wasn't diffusing C4 bombs or assassinating a rouge general trying to buy nuclear weapons on the black market.

Second, the immoral activities are using what happened as a forum to build up their own careers. Wilson and Plame are like a neo-Che Guevara, a "martyr" that was cut down in their prime.

Third, it was Armitage that leaked the name, not Bush or Cheney. We've known this for two years, since the Woodward article that it was a government official "with no axe to grind."

Why was he disqualified? Because he didn't drink enough kool-aid? The man had vast international experience. And it's not as if Plame made the ultimate decision for him to go.
His ideology cancelled out whatever expertise that he could have brought with him. He had an agenda, and the results of his trip to Niger were predetermined by Wilson before he had ever even left for Niamey.

Actually she was something in between the two extremes you are presenting.

What are you talking about? What happened destroyed Plame's chosen career.

Actually, if you read the trial transcripts, there was multiple leaking at the time. Armitrage is one, Libby was another. They likely did not violate a very specific law that has several elements besides mere leaking, but that does not change the fact that they leaked.

Wilson got it right, so it looks like he was qualified or he has a better magic Eightball than the incompetents in the administration.

Tell me another lie. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valeri..._Valerie_Wilson.27s_memoir.2C_.22Fair_Game.22

In May 2006, the New York Times reported that Valerie Wilson agreed to a $2.5 million book deal with Crown Publishing Group, a division of Random House. As reported initially, her memoir, currently entitled "Fair Game," has been scheduled for a fall 2007 release

Throw the book at the bastard.

But don't forget the other guy, way back in the 1990's, who was caught doing essentially the same thing, and merely lost his/her license to practice law.

I hope all of you were equally enthuisiastic about punishing perjurors then too!

So when is Patrick Fitzgerald going to come down on Sandy Burger?
He doesn't have authorization to prosecute Sandy Burger. You may want to talk to Bush or Gonzales about that case as they probably hold influence over the U.S. Attorney with jurisdiction or could appoint a special prosecutor.

He wasn't forgot. The prosecution on that case went about as far as it could realistically go since Clinton technically told the truth (based on the narrow definition of sex used by the Judge in Paula Jones' lawsuit which excluded the acts that Clinton and Lewinsky engaged in). Paula Jones' lawyers' incompetently didn't ask the correct and obvious follow-up questions and one of the biggest disgraces in that case is that they have got to keep their law licenses.

What amazes me is that it's so often the small things that bring political figures' downfalls. We've got major corruption, so much so that it's been called a 'corporate crime wave', a major war throughout the middle east etc etc etc.

And all that happens is that a minor player is tried for farting in public.
