Not necessarily, would it be possible to add in a couple of cavalry models instead of the little footmen at the bottom of the Trebuchet? Would capture a Mongol theme. If not, they were larger than traditional Trebuchets as far as I know, so a bigger, tougher looking trebuchet would work.
That sounds incredible! D'you keep the splash damage on upgrading? If so, I LOVE IT. Also, I woulda made it slightly weaker than a Treb, but with the splash damage and Volley to capture the siege fighting theme. Also, fun fact: the word mangonel comes from the word Mongol!
Great Galleass (Galleass): Units within two tiles of a Great Galleass gain +33% bonus vs cities. Begins with the Siege promotion itself. Costs an additional Gold maintenance and takes slightly longer to construct. May only be built by Venice.
I think the splash damage thing sounds perfect anyway - simple yet super effective. Would it effect cities? Like if you attacked a unit adjacent to a city, would the city take damage?
Also, Scape, far as I know, Mangonel can't be derived from Mongol given the Arabic word, منجنيق (Manjanyyaq), vastly predates the Mongols, so it must have a way older origin - probably Greek or Latin. The Mongols actually learned how to use trebuchets and stuff from the Arabs - there's a reason Huhihui Pao translates into 'Muslim Engine' ahah.
EDIT: Wikipedia says it comes from the Greek magganon: 'Engine of War'. Makes sense to me
