Like Getting Robbed Twice

Years ago, police would seize stolen property and return it to the rightful owner. But the law has changed. Most people end up buying back their property.
So you are clamoring that the rights of police to seize property be extended at the expense of courts, if I understand correctly?

No, I am suggesting that the law be changed back so that the police can once again confiscate stolen property and return it to the rightful owner, as they can apparently still do in most states. Of course, if there is any contention about whether it was actually stolen or not, the matter should be referred to the courts to decide.

I really don't understand why this simple statement, based on what I consider to be basic common sense, is so difficult for some to comprehend.

:stupid:
The buyers of merchandise should have good incentive to make sure that the property isn't stolen. That's where the risk burden belongs.
