List me some good Games!

So as I will buy a new pc soon Im ready to play some more modern games...

As Im a regular reader here, I wonder which ones the fine folks of civ-fanatics would suggest me to try... Can also be not yet but soon to be released games

Im interested in the following kind of games;


All should preferably be multiplayer for the most part

Ego Shooter, tactical
Team Fortress 2?
Battlefield 2?
Call of Duty 4?
Others?

RTS---Company of Heroes. I'll give honorable mention to World in Conflict, but the game play doesn't get as personal. Also honorable mention to the Warhammer 40k RTS games. Supreme Commander might be tops, don't know.

For FPS with thinking in the extreme, I'd say Raven Shield was the best (basically Rainbow Six part 3). Joint Operations was great, but is almost 5 years old.

For ego shooter with moderate thinking, I'd go with Far Cry. Crysis tops that I assume.

RPG:??? Probably anything by Bioware is tops.

Of course Civilization 4 is one of my tops strategy games. Galatic Civilizations 2 as well.

For RPGs, I highly recommend Mount&Blade. Morrwind is still pretty fun.

For FPS, Team Fortress 2, STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl, Red Orchestra, Call of Duty 4, half-Life series (buy it all, including the non-source Half-Life and Gearbox's Opposing Forces and Blue Shift) and recommended half-life series mods I've played are The Specialists, Battlegrounds, and Source Forts can be fun when there aren't any idiots/griefers.

I'm afraid that your reason for MMORPG is flawed, I played WoW at a friends once, only because he kept bugging me to try it and it was really, really boring. There's nothing exciting about the battles there, stick to FPS, RTS and Mount&Blade for exciting battles.

For strategy I recommend the Total war series, and for Medieval 2 ther Stainless Steel mod. Also the Paradox games like Europa Universailles 3, Hearts of Iron 2. And of course Civ.

Mount & Blade is pretty cool. Plus there are some awesome mods for it like a mod that has you as a samurai or put line battles with muskets in.

Definitely the Half-Life series for shooting, and Battlefield 2 is also a good choice. It's slightly older than Battlefield 2142, but I find I prefer it a lot more.

You must get Portal as well.

Bioshock was a great game as well from last August

Battlefield 2 still has many many players despite two newer games.

I don't game much, but Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance is really fun.

Like others are saying, get the Orange Box with HL 2 + ep1&2, Portal and TF included.
For online fun i recommend Battlefield 2142. (Kan: BF2 is great but Titan Mode in BF2142 is just crazy fun. )
If you like adventures you should definitely pick up Fahrenheit from a bargain bin somewhere if you havent already played it. I just love that game.
For eff pee ess, Stalker is brilliant, and the prequel coming out next week looks promising.
