Little questions & answers thread

What are modern luxuries? I have a quest to get 8 modern luxuries. I have pretty much access to all resources on the map and also have several factories with different resources equipped, but I'm stuck at 1/8.
I haven't looked into an alternate method, but you can see them by clicking the "lens" above the minimap. Select the "continent" view. The resources will be listed and highlighted on the map.

What exactly are "uncultivated rural tiles" for the Grocer?
Uncultuvated means; Not used for growing crops.

So Grocer should add 1 food to Mines, Quarries, Expedition Sites, Camps and Woodcutters.

It should probably just save space and say "+1 Food to all rural tiles" but I might be forgetting some edge case or something.... the game is still new

Except it does not, as per the examples I've given. And it would make the Ironwork useless.
I'm still unable to make a working theory of what that means.

[Edit] Example 1 has 1 Woodcutter and 1 Mine, but +0 for uncultivated.
Example 2 has 1 Woodcutter, and +3 for uncultivated.
Example 3 has 4 Expedition Bases, 2 Mines and 1 Clay Pit/Kasbah, and +1 for uncultivated.

The Ironworks is the Modern age Warehouse Building giving +1 Production on Mines, Quarries, Woodcutters, and Clay Pits, so it would not make sense for the Grocer to do so too.
But I appreciate you trying hypothesis!

How does the Grocer make the Ironworks useless though (or make it not make sense)?

Getting +1 Food and +1 Production to a tile shouldn't negate, it should stack.

Does Civ VII support family sharing?

I found that games that have 3rd party drm accounts do not support family sharing, but I am wondering if this is true. My partner wants to play this game as well but we do not share a living space at the moment. She doesn't have Steam at all yet so I wanted to ask here first before we go through the effort of installing Steam and setting up my library for sharing.

A: Family sharing is enabled, according to this thread:

I hope this one is not as tough as the uncultivated one.
The Brihadesswarar Temple Wonder has "All Buildings gain a +1 Happiness Happiness Adjacency for Navigable Rivers." I'm wondering if the bonus only applies to the Buildings which existed at the time of the construction of the Wonder, as I have an old Granary near a NavRiver that has a +1 Happiness, but more recent Gold/Food Buildings in the curve a a NavRiver have nothing, 0 Happiness?

And also a previous one, is there a hidden 1 Gold per turn cost to having a Resource slotted?

When is a commander allowed to 'overrun'?
I have no idea other than their combined army has to WAY overpower the unit. I did it once with 4 warriors packed against a Scout

Edit: I just did it again. Lvl 0 Commander with 2 Warriors and 1 Slinger overran a scout

Civilopedia has short explanation, but I'm not sure what this means.

What is the "Determined Ability" and more specifically does it stack with itself?

I get 2 narrative events about it.

One is about a Soldier returning home. I can either have him tech new recruits (+X% to new units but -1 Happy on Military Bldgs) or activate Determined Ability (+2 combat str to Melee).

The other is Opening Night at the Colosseum. I can Activate Determined Ability or Announce Chariot Race (+50 happiness).

I'm not in combat so it's not convenient for me to select one, test it and then reload. I'm assuming it doesn't stack so I'm just picking Happy for now.

It's just +2 strength for affected units, like this: View attachment 720483

Don't know if the bonus stacks.
Here’s a pic that I found:

Overrun destroys the unit immediately.

So, I have a Town directly on the coast and I want to buy a Quadrireme there but it tells me I have "no suitable location to spawn this unit". What am I missing here?
