[GS] Livestreamer Previews Discussion Thread

Also, Suffrage only obsoletes Medina Quarter now.
That's the good news. Now I can found a democracy without having to worry about the empire revolting due to my 2 district max wide style.
The potential bad news: What obsoletes the Liberalism policy card now?

Whoa and new deal no longer has a gold penalty

good catch. Grumbles about Franklin D. Roosevelt's economic policies which prolonged our great depression (in my opinion).

Except that’s not how politics work IRL... Vetoing the border wall does not immediately result in legalizing all illegal immigration attempts. Failed Bexit vote does not mean EU takes UK back with open arms. Not approving sanctions against Russia does not mean Putin now gets humanitarian help as a punishment to sanction proposers “not reading the room”

Not automatically, but all those things could be a result, depending on the mood of others.

Bill Clinton enjoyed his highest approval ratings after his impeachment failed to remove him from office.

It's the "if you come for the king, you best not miss" principle. Because backlash is a thing.

But you are required to have the Democracy government to slot it. With the change to its bonus in GS, it’s not that lucrative anymore.

From what I saw Liberalism was available even with Tier 4 governments.

In livestream they basically said they did it so some result would always happen from the world congress - they didn't like how in 5 you could vote down a proposal and then nothing happens for 20 turns until the next world congress. I think it was entirely done this way for gameplay purposes.

I'm surprised the Nobel Prize policy is still named that, considering Sweden and all that.

Unrealism aside, the gameplay problem is that with some proposals (like Migration Policy) you can only choose between two negative effects; you can't prevent the proposal, no matter how much Diplomatic Favor you have. That's horsecrap.

That fits better into the current Emergency mechanic to me.

On the world stage, you rarely have two opposing proposals running under one vote because of how swingy things get. If you care about balance of power (and all world powers do), then you don’t let let stuff like this happen. One proposal at a time, yay or nay. The current Congress in GS just screams “loopholes for everyone!”

I am impressed that Quill18 built several Neighborhoods and hasn't had Partisans problems.
I'm more impressed that he's building Neighborhoods in cities he never bothered to build Granaries in. :crazyeye:

Just like real life, isn’t it?:crazyeye:

I don’t see an issue with that, honestly. WC, by its nature, is about ensuring world power stability and channeling efforts for one common cause when such stability is threatened. It’s not there to entertain people every X years because “gee, the world needs some spice... let’s make a swingy vote and see it burn!”

Is there any streamer that play GS on diety? Have any link? And does it look like the AI is better in wars now? Ive seen someone mentioned it wasnt any better :/

I don't think the NDA permits them to play above Emperor. And no, the AI isn't miraculously improved.

Immortal is the highest seen so far.

I remember seeing it somewhere, but I don't remember which livestream, but the Dead Sea doesn't give fresh water anymore.
Edit: ChristopherOdd's part 1 video at 9:24.
