LK101, Diety, World Map, Civ=TBD

I have played 5 turns already, but it might be Wed until I finish the next 5.
We caputered Manuas.
I am sneaking in as many buildings as I can.
Hammi is industrial.

IHT: I swap a few cities to build Aquaducts. Swap research to theology.
IBT: The Brazilians try to bring some heat, they fail. ONly 5 minutes on a 2.6 gHz Machine with a gig of Ram.
Turn 1: We are in a bit of a Tech hole as the Indians start Newtons. Kill 4 Brazilian swords at a cost of 1 of ours.
Turn 2: Aztecs and India ally against Songhai. China starts Newtons. Slowly plod along, I killed 2 swords. no losses for us.
Turn 3: Well this turn started swimmingly. I lost a full strength Sword army to a spear. I kill a few swords and spear or 2. I also lose a sword.
Turn 4: Capture Manuas. We get 2 slaves and a free pult out of the deal.
Turn 5: Hammi went industrial. Bombard and raze Brasilia. I think that Brazil finally got serious about us as they sent in a stack of 4-5 swords next to a city. I forted an army there, and moved another close by to help.
Meet greece. They are up the same 3 as everyone else.
Position to heal and stuff.
Turn 6: Pop a leader, start to slowly plow through the stack of Brazillian swords. We are getting through them, they just take time. Killing lots more stuff
Turn 7: More killing of stuff, the Brazilians swarm over our pults and take them. They will make it to Rio, but then We will recapture them. Found Catamarca near the ruins of Brasilia, we have another source of silks. I do a series of trades snagging some maps. In the process I find that our rep got hosed on the Germany deal.
I have no idea of how to proceed, but we snagged some nice gpt for some of our silks to Babylon.
Turn 8: Healing and positioning. Kill 2 swords. Still can't find the Brazillian Iron. Silks to the Mongols for furs and gold and TM.
Turn 9: Capture Sao Cancoal with a rax a harbor and 3 slaves. Kill 4-7 random units.
Turn 10: Advance on many cities, kill off most of his last big stacks. Australia decided to pick up Theology this turn, kinda screwing our plan. Kill random stuff.

Fruits of my labors:
1) We have a much better view of the world.
2) We have shuffled a bunch of Swords/MDI's towards the front and replaced them with horses and pikes.
3) The Brazilians are gassed. They have 1 city larger than size 1 on the mainland.
4) We have an MDI army

Bad news:
1) Our rep is hosed, the Germany trade route got broken.
2) We lost an army to a freak rng occurence.
3) Our tech is hosed. The hole is huge.

I propose that we use thievery as our method to get tech. IF we steal from Egypt or the Songhai. They are too wrapped up in other wars to mess with us, and are at war with the powers on our side of the pond.
We should own all of South America within 40 turns, venezuala will fall quickly as they have a small border, and our 4 or more armies at that point will decimate their mass of crap.
This game will be a bit of a challenge, but is still winnable. I would not even be too worried.

Prepare to hear really loud screams from Lee.

No, we can still trade our resources through "renegotiate peace treaty". You just need to remember and focus.

Bummer on the broken rep, but on the bright side we wont have to worry about broken trade routes any more.

We are behind the tech situation in LK87 at this point (mainly due to being scientific that time).. but atleast we are ahead in cities and territory, and we have an easilly defendable front and a clear goal of who we have to fight next.

Aztecs will be a tough nut to crack, but if we can steal and trade our way to muskets, cannons and cavalery.. then the aztec city with great lib and sun tsu is waiting for us if we cant trade ourself into industrial ages before we reach it.

Exactly how did the iron deal get broken btw? did the germans loose a city or something?

Edit: nm.. I see germans are almost extinct.. only a few cities left

My guess is Germany did not have Navigation. We should not have traded with them in the first place.

well, its almost certain they dont have navigation.. they were equal to us at my turns, and we still cant trade maps with them :)

coastal trade would still be safe thou unless we were at war with same AI as them (or a barb cut the coast)

Brazil will give 7 of their 11 cities for peace btw.. we can get all their south american cities plus the one on island (minus their capital ofcourse)

We could just take the peace deal and take out their capital in 20 turns (the rest of their cities are in northern canada I think.. cant see them anywhere else

 I had a bad feeling with that deal. I never would have signed it myself as without them having navigation. This is way to early to lose our rep. Getting future alliances in going to be very hard now. :wallbash:

Excess greed for a marginal trade route screws us again. I don't know what else I can do with the LK series to stop this. I hate trading over marginal trade routes.

Gyathaar
Microbe
M60A3TTS
Romeothemonk
Greebley (currently playing)

Remember 10 turns per round - STRICT 24 hours got it, total 48 hours to at complete.
5 to 10 turns starting with the industrial age. Once the game starts dragging 48 hours to at least report a status update.

Looking at map it would not had mattered if they had navigation.. the german core is surrounded by their enemies it looks like with no trade routes out.. and since we cant see their capital we dont know the full trade route to them, so it doesnt matter if we had navigation either.

Well obviously it was a gamble and it didn't work out for the best. :( I took it for granted that with Germany being such a powerhouse in LK87 that they we not going to be on the brink of elimination this early on.

Having said that, Gyathaar is exactly right. We are going to need the GLib one way or another and the Aztecs have it. We can get through Venezuela well enough and be in range to take it. We may not even need to get to cavalry, we have enough resouces to put a lot of knights in the field once we have chivalry.

Umm... Alliances are the one thing that isn't affected by losing our rep.

Alliances are a per turn deal. Therefore we can trade fine either with gpt or gold on our side. We just can't add gold or tech to their side.

Its trading for techs that is affected.

I Got it.

This is a deal we should consider taking. Then we can move on to Venezuela without delay.

We should also consider reneg peace with america and buy engineering and chivalry for iron and gpt..
and trade these to australia for theology

I didn't renegotiate with America, as they were ahead of us in power up untill about turn 8, and I didn't want to really mess with paying a premium to trade.
Turn 8 I got ~400 gold together and made a lot of our troops better.
DO NOT SIGN PEACE WITH BRAZIL UNTIL WE CAPTURE RIO. They decided to pay the upkeep costs for ~8 cats and have them in Rio. The force up there was 2 armies 1 sword and a lot of cats, and I could either lose the silks city of lose the cats. Knowing how the AI uses cats, I let them borrow them for a few turns, and will let Greebley get them back.
It is good to know that our power graph is rising.

I suppose it would be too much to ask for them to upgrade the cats to trebs for us as well. :D

They lack the Technology to do so, so it might be too much to ask, but we will be doing well anyway.
No offense to anyone, but when I got the game, our forces were really spread out, and I spent a lot of time trying to consolidate them and get some order to them, as well as get more heavy hitters to the front.
Note to Greebley, I built a coloseum in the FP city so it wouldn't have to use speacialists. As our core slowly grows, I would sneak in a coloseum or a cathedral in all our core cities, 1 at a time of course, so we have the maximum number of people working.
I forgot to look, who has the ToA. If it is on our continent, it could be really groovy for us.
On the peace with Brazil Issue, I would take all their mainland cities, then sign peace leaving them only their new capitol. (Chances are it would be so far away we can capture, but Brazil whipped their guys hard.)

A lot of that had to do simply with geography. Horsetown on the west coast and Brazil's major towns on the east coast covers about the most distance on the continent. The frontage will narrow rapidly and lend itself to a concentration of forces as we get farther north.

I do not understand this statement. We desperately need to trade away our iron with our broken rep. What premium and how much is that so it's worth to denying the trade opportunity?
