LK145 - Lee, your a PITA

i would like to scout a bit more of the surrounding lands, and also discuss when we should attack gandhi. this time something tells me his non-violence strategy won't work...;)

Good set, except:
i failed in my mission, gold won't be online until next turn, but i hope earrings of silver will do until then...
Izzy will not like this.. *shudders*

Gandhi must go, he's closest to us, the tech leader, and he shouldn't have much of an army yet.

yeah, i know. i'll probably be kicked off the team and sent to work one of those mines... :cry:

Handling Izzy 101: Redirect her Anger

If only we can come up with a way to convince the queen that by following her advisors plans it would be in her benefit? Perhaps if we told her that the little Indian man knows the secrets of fine jewelry but won't give them up to us?

The worker is sent to mine the silver; the other two workers are busy rounding up a bunch of cows.
Current PITA order:
Worker priorities are to get silver and gold on-line. NO other work actions are allowed until these two are completed.

If this happens again the turn will be invalidated. I don't know what about NO didn't come through, but touching the cows broke the mandated orders.

Variant:
After each turn I will review the game and give a mandated order that can't be ignored. Many orders will be odd.
It expires at the end of your turn-set.

Conversation at the palace:
Izzy: What do you mean I don't have a gold ring yet? The blasted workers had plenty of time.
Advisor: The workers were diverted to help feed Barcelona.
Izzy: You DARED to defy my orders. Izzy walks away for a bit, comes back with an axe, and killers her current advisor!

Izzy: Points to someone in the room, and informs them they are now her new aid. He shivers in horror.
Advisor: Yes, your majesty.
Izzy: First of all get me my gold for a ring now.
Advisor: Yes, your majesty.
Izzy: The citizens of Barcelona must be punished.
Advisor: It isn't their fault. Why punish them?
Izzy: Do you want the axe next?
Advisor: No, your majesty.
Izzy: Kill the cattle, and most of the people in Barcelona. Let them help out the military. No one defies my orders!
Izzy: Excuse me why I go check out the new torture chamber. I think this will be fun...

Current multi-part PITA order:

1) The offense from last turn must be fixed. The two workers on the mine must finish, and build a road to Barcelona.
2) The warrior in Barcelona must be woken up immediately and pillage the offending cattle. The cattle can't be fixed this round.
3) Barcelona must be switched to archers and whipped as many times as possible for an archer.

Variant:
After each turn I will review the game and give a mandated order that can't be ignored. Many orders will be odd.
It expires at the end of your turn-set.
Failure to follow the PITA order invalidates your turn.

Remember about 15 peace (including phony wars) / about 10 heavy war turns per round. STRICT 24 hours got it, total 48 hours to complete.

Remember the use of the BUG mod is prohibited due to its destruction of the in game log. The use of BUG will result in your being ejected from the game.

Got it. Can you clarify the order about whipping Barca, please?

Is it
a) Whenever possible whip for an Archer (even if there is a penalty for no hammers invested). This means I could micro for no growth after whipping down to size 1.
b) Same as a) except no cheesy low food micro.
c) Get the maximum possible number of whipped archers in 15 turns from Barca. (i.e. max food, whip for one pop, so wait a turn before whipping)

This is it. The city will be miserable for a long time...

After thinking about it, my first rule for ignoring orders was to extreme. I've changed it to the below.

Variant:
After each turn I will review the game and give a mandated order that can't be ignored. Many orders will be odd.
It expires at the end of your turn-set.
Failure to follow the PITA results in a really wacko order...

I think I like this better anyway.. It makes for an interesting game (Barcelona is going to be angry for a very very long time..) :lol:
Although, there is a loophole here; IIRC, if we let Gandhi take the city when we declare on him, and then recapture, the anger is gone. Along with all the infrastructure :lol:

So long as you guys don't purposely defy the orders to get funny wacky ones. I know that would be fun for us lurkers, but I'm sure that isn't what LK has in mind for the game.

i'm sorry$ about my round LK, i don't know how but somehow i misinterpreted the orders thinking that i had to get the metals online during my set. and since there was a barb warrior close to the gold and i had no troops to kill him i built a pasture while waiting.
i will read the orders more carefully next time. sorry.:please:

Inherited turn: 625 BC
Switched Barcelona to an Archer. Sent the Warrior north to pillage the cows. No doubt they have bovine TB and need to be slaughtered and quarantined until the end of the turnset.

Turn 136: 600 BC
Whip Barca. Whip Madrid. :whipped:

Turn 137: 575 Bc
Madrid: Library -> Work Boat
Barca: Archer -> Archer
I pillage the cattle.

Turn 138: 550 BC[/b
Madrid: Work Boat -> Axeman
Cordoba is founded on the original Black Dot

:whipped: Barcelona

Turn 139: 525 BC
Our Archer on the Gold successfully defends against a barbarian one.
Barcelona: Archer -> Archer
Buddhism has been spread in our lands. Thank you Gandhi :love:

I converted immediately.
I switched Madrid to a Settler since it is at its happy cap.

Turn 140: 500 BC
Whip Barca.

Turn 141: 485 BC
Sailing -> Priesthood. I chose this for CoL which will be a monopoly tech if we can get it soon.
Barca: Archer -> Archer

Turn 142: 470 BC
Barca: Archer -> Archer

Turn 143: 455 BC

Turn 144: 440 BC
We meet Hammurabi.

There was a forest fire near Seville. Our treasury is now 10 gold smaller than it was before.
Seville: Monument -> Library

Turn 146: 410 BC

Umm... No. Everyone else is Buddhist, and you aren't. Go eat that silly helmet of yours.
Madrid: Settler -> Worker
Whip Barca.

Turn 147: 395 BC
Barca: Archer -> Archer
One of our exploring Archers is killed by a barb Axe.

Turn 150: 350 BC
Cordoba: Monument -> Granary
Whip Barca. Whip Library in Seville.
Priesthood -> CoL. No beakers have been invested yet, so change this if there is something better.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

There is a barbarian city to the north, not in too bad a position. I think we should capture it sometime. How many Archers can we expect there on Monarch?

We have an unmoved settler on Green Dot, I'll leave it to the next player to decide whether or not to found immendiately. Since Barcelona will be able to work the gold once it grows, I think we should.

Lee, the citizens of Barcelona definitely think you're a PITA:

EDIT: I will be OOP for two weeks starting on Wednesday. :( Could you skip me during this time, please?

Lurker's spam :
Let me count, first unhappy 15 turns, second 30 turns... fifth -> 75 turns to go away.
Not smart played, the team shouldn't Barcelona let grow beyond 1. :D

I am not sure preventing Barcelona from regrowing after the first whip would be in the sense of the order... HR should make it useable again at some point.

Barcelona can still grow to size 2 and then one every 15 turns.. so not as bad as it could be. Cows must go back on-line next set I guess.
Barb city will have 3 archers on Monarch (and possibly a worker)

Conversation at the palace:
Izzy: I don't have much energy today. We rejected our first gods.
Advisor: But the world respects the Buddhist a lot more.
Izzy: I don't care - we need to be able to spread Hinduism...

Current PITA order:

Switch research to mediation at a positive cash flow.

Ok, got it.

Turns 150 - 165 / 350BC - 125BC

There was not a lot of action, so i ended up with a rather boring report. The only Screenshot i actully meant to take (Meditation done), didn't work.

Set research to Meditation.
Its 10 Turns at 40% and +1 Gpt after rearranging a citizen at Madrid.

Hold off settling the green dot for a few turns however, as it will probably increase the time by a lot.

Turn 151: Barcelona finishes another Archer... Disband a Warrior there. To cut costs.
Also send one Archer to Madrid to replace the Warrior there.
Somehow i feel, we will not need a granary there too soon, so put a Temple.

Turn 153: Get A Archer Killed by a Barb Warrior who tries to pillage the food near Barcelona. In Flat land [pissed]. Fortunately our wise leader made sure we are not short on Archers.

Turn 154: Barcelona grows and can work the Gold now. Can raise slider to 50% at +2gpt. Yeah.

Turn 157: Setlle Toledo on Green Dot. Must go back to 20% and +2gpt. Employ a Scientists in Madrid which is at happy cap for the next 9 turns (Whiped Lighthouse).

Turn 159: Meditation done. (I had meant to take a screenshot here but it didnt take...)
Back to CoL at 30% and -1 gpt now. 36 Truns :( but i hope it can be helped somehow along the way.
Barcelona built Temple and can grow to 4 now... And will loose another :mad: in 6 turns.

Turn 162: Someone builds the Orcale and pops Philosophy from it. Taht is :aargh:
Turn 163: And the winner is Hammurabi, who just switched to Pacifism.

Turn 165: :sheep:

I took out the scientists in Madrid whipping a Settler last turn i think we shoud put them back asap, to get a GS. There is also some overflow to be used - if you want change the build, the Axe might be not the most pressing thing right now.

Sevilla will deliver a Galley next turn. The idea is to guard the fish at madrid against those new vicious 3.17 sea-barbs.

We have a Settler at disposal - either to Settle yellow or maybe to Claim Dyes - we would have to compete with the Greative Preicles there however.

There is another possible spot with Sheep and Silver West of Barcelona.
