LK22 - Always War - Iroqoius

[dance] Our first turn with 2 leaders

Eridu - captured, more damage to Babylon helping us in the process.

3 captured workers [party]

The important Heroic epic to help get more leaders.

The only worry - the gold drain. Our $41 / turn income will be nothing once we have to start researching.

Overall a positive turn.
However, no question that we are still challenged here.

I will play within 12 hours.

Lee

Wow, I'm glad I gave up on mine! Lee would definitely NOT be celebrating! Mine was horrible. Lost every attack on Eridu, lost a city on the coast to a Persian Immortal marine..

I also didn't expand at all, saving the settler, waiting for an escort.

maybe I'm just too careful?

DS how did you get 3 Spearmen up to Eridu for the army so fast??

Good turn though! :)

(0) 750 AD - Tonawanda has slow growth - change to Spearman.
 Salamanca had a useless entertainer - switch to Settler - High food city.
Grand River has to good tiles to use - switch to marketplace.
Cattaraugus was stuck on ZERO growth - Guys we need to grow our cities
It switchs to mw - harbor is useless
(I) No AI attacks.

(1) 760 AD - We kill a bab warrior, but almost lose a mw (1 hp left).
(I) Still no ai attacks - I can't figure out what the Bab stack is up to.

(2) 770 AD - Kill to bab units by Eridu, 1 barely.
 Compared to these guys (Babylon) our military is weak!
(I) Just lots of units coming our way.

(3) 780 AD - Our mw retreats from a spearman.

(4) 790 AD - Kill a bab bowman - capture a catapult - hopefully the mw lives.
The AI workers are so pathetic - I see workers irragting a mine.
Lost 1 mw attacking a spearman in the forest.
(I) A mortal and a swordsman commit suicide against our cities.

(5) 800 AD - We kill a Persian spearman that was trying to contact Babylon.
I get my favorite leader - cornplanter
I don't care how many times I read the name - I still laugh.
Instant Marketplace in Salamanca - I appreciate the improved revenue.
The overdue dye road is started.
Our MW SoD razed Zariqum - A Babylon Iron Source - killed 3 units at no cost.
It generates 2 new workers.
We kill 3 stray units around the former city.
Of course, we don't see the workers we spotted last turn.
Our spearman army finally gets unit #3.
Not enough damage - we are still weak vs. Babylon.
(I) Persia killed a spearman in gr.
English are clueless again.

(6) 810 AD - A scary turn coming up 4 immortals in position to attack GR - just 2 spearman left after the 1 died.
Our mw SoD is resting and doing a reorg.
(I) We suffer a blow as Persia captures GR - Thank god it wasn't razed.

(7) 820 AD - We recover GR, for the moment.
Centralia is formed.
No luck attacking Nimrud.
(I) Our mw SoD is destroyed.
GR holds with mw as defense.

(8) 830 AD - We kill 2 units from the English 8 unit SoD - This is a key round.
(I) Gr holds - we get a leader.

(9) 840 AD - Tecumseh rushes marketplace in nf - again we need revenue - We have to be ready for when we start our own

research.
(I) I see the first attack of my turn vs. St. Regis.

(10) 850 AD - No real action.

Summary - A LOUSY TURN - Our weak production base continues to haunt us.

Continue the push to kill Babylon. This is our only path to victory.

Will the blast civs learn Engineering - these rivers are killing our ability to move

The babs have a 15 unit SoD that keeps floating around Eridu - Don't form the next city until multiple defenders available -

and instant walls can be ordered.

Things have calmed down some - we can consider starting a new settler somewhere.

I am building another mw SoD by Centralia - when it gets to 8 or 9 mw - attack a bab city.
Don't repeat my mistake - after razing one retreat away!

We must keep expanding at all cost. We have way to small of a production base
Keep one city building a settler - If we don't expand - game over
Also, we lead a larger number of cities for the free unit support

Why I feel this game is going bad - LK21 had 10 cities as of 530BC - we have just 12 at 850AD.
LK21 had the fp before 500 AD - we are nowhere close to a spot worth the fp.
We are just starting to get some slave labor.

I got home late from work last night and did not have a chance to pick up the game. I will play turns tonight.

850AD preturn I let things alone.
(I) 3 english die at St R.

860AD MMWM - babs building SoD by Eridu
(I) Persia wants peace. Persia has 16 cities & know monotheism. They do not know Lit. I ask Xerxes to drop dead. He does not. We are still at war :D
2 more English die at St R.

870AD MMWM
(I) Fighting at St R and GR, it is good that the english only attack with 2-3 swordsmen per turn.
Babs want peace, we have more tech than Hammy (Lit & Currancy), Hammy has 17 cities. I offer him the same deal we offered Xerxes. Hammy did not die. We fight on. A mini Bab SoD attacks Eridu - 3 Babs die we lose 1 spearman. 3 more Babs die before the attack is over.

880AD MW kills a Bab Bowman and we get GL Red Cloud. Red Cloud moves towards Steve's.
(I) 2 english die at St R. The Bab SoD hits Eridu our spearman army kills 8 babs before dieing. The MW taht got us Red Cloud fights valently killing 2 more babs before being swamped. we lose Eridu.

890 Red Cloud builds a market in Steve's.
5 MW's capture Nimrod from the Babs. We get 3 workers.
(I) We lose a MW on counter attack at Nimrod. Skirmishes at St R and GR

900AD River Bend founded.
(I) Skirmishes at St R, GR, and Nimrod
910AD (I) Skirmishes. It is a good thing the English never wait a couple of turns to hit St. R they keep losing 2-3 sowrdmen a turn there :D

920AD We get Sitting Bull in a fight by Eridu. It looks like the Bab SoD is in Eridu, for now, we abandon attempting to get it back.
(I) typical fighting at St. R & GR

930AD Sitting Bull rushes Library at NF
from here to 950AD replayed see below

(I) Babs starting to mass by Nimrod. 5 more english die on the walls of St R

We meet Gandhi. We trade our territory map & Lit for his World map. He does not know much of the world :( He does not know any new techs. He as a settler just entering our territory by Steve's, I am going to wait a turn before I let Gandhi know we are at war, since it looks like some free workers to me :)

940AD I do not think I can hold Nimrod (lost 2 MWs intraturn) guess I should have bailed sooner. Nimrod is abandonded.
(I) Some of the sowrdsmen from the bab SoD in Eridu move to attack Mauch.

950AD We are at war with India, we capture a settler= 2 workers.

I left a settler 1 north of Centralia on the road. I was going to build a town 3 to the north of there were the spearman is fortified. That was when I had Nimrod, if you deside to build there I would suggest at least 3 maybe 4 spear for defense.

Link removed for correction see below
Good Luck!

I'll post my 'got it' now, hopefully I can play tonight or tomorrow.. depends on work.

I also don't intend on dropping my turn like last time. If I suck, I suck.. :crazyeye: ;)

I am going to wait a turn before I let Gandhi know we are at war, since it looks like some free workers to me

Rowain beat me to it - but I was going to post the exact same thing.
This VIOLATED the rules of the scenario

>>>BrianJ can NOT move. - His turn would be void until Jersey Joe fixes the problem.

Jersey Joe must replay from 930 AD forward.

GAME IS HALTED UNTIL THIS IS FIXED!

940AD I do not think I can hold Nimrod (lost 2 MWs intraturn) guess I should have bailed sooner. Nimrod is abandonded.
Did I not state RAZE the cities and retreat?
The babs are still dangerous.
What we need to do is destroy production base.

I am sorry about not declaring war immediately, I will replay the last 2 turns when I get home.

As an explaination, not an excuss, it was due to frustration on my part. I just felt a little out of control of events during my turns. I watched the settler making his way up the coast towards Steve's, and was anticipating being able to capture a couple of workers on the turn I declared war on India. Then 1 turn earlier than I wanted Gandhi appears on the screen to introduce himself to me and I fouled up.

Need to check it but i think it's : as soon as you see an unit you have them on Diplomacy-screen which would mean you have to contact and declare war but as stated before i must check this

Rowain

930AD Scenerio Correction

We meet with Gandhi, he offers us vegetarian curry. We trade our territory map & Lit for his World map. He does not know much of the world :( He does not know any new techs.

Gandhi is polite to us, so we politely inform him that he is now at war with us.

(I) We lose a MW at Nimrod.

The english mount a massive offensive against St. R. Our first spearman kills 3 English, then drops into the red killing a spearman who attacked, he is promoted to elite.
Our second spearman kills an Englishman and is then killed by
an Englishman. Our last healthy spearman kills 2 English spears and is droped into the red killing a spearman. The newly promoted elite comes back to defend against a spear and kills
him. The English attack ends.

That was the first time I saw English spear attack. Up till then the spearman would watch a swordsman die and sthe spear would retreat.

940AD Nimrod is abandonded.

950AD We kill an Indian spearman and capture 2 workers.

I left a settler 1 north of Centralia on the road. I was going to build to the north of there were the 2 spearmen are fortified. If you deside to build there, there are 2 more spearmen on the way.

I tried to repeat the previous moves I made. But things worked out a little different intraturn starting with losing a spear at St. R and not losing a spear north of Centralia. Also, I might not have managed the cities the same way.

Here it is: Always War

Sorry for the delay guys, I moved Friday the 17th, my ISP just got around to hooking up my ADSL and I have no dial up capability. I'll jump in on the next round, thanks for 48 hour wait hope it didn't hold up the game to long.

Garsonga :(

Well another bad turn. I dont really want to post it. I just lost Centralia to a SoD..

If you guys think I should post it anyway I will. I'll wait til I hear from you.

We can't ignore turns because of bad round.

My last round was nasty around Grand River.

If it is our destiny to lose - let's put the game out of it's misery :(
This game hasn't looked good for a while, way to far behind the growth curve of LK21.
