Identity Cards
Starting January 4th, the 大日本帝國陸軍 Dai-Nippon Teikoku Rikugun (Imperial Japanese Army) will require presentation of an identification card upon request. Identification cards can be obtained from your nearest 憲兵隊 Kempeitai (Military Police Corps) office.
Your identification card will include a picture, your name, your address, your profession, and your travel permissions.
Identity cards are requisite to receive food rations or make purchases at all businesses.
Business operation will require special permission through the identity card. If you are a business owner, you must provide details, including financial details, to the Kempeitai or risk seizure of your business.
Individuals from whom an identification card is requested and which are unable to produce one will be detained and may be tried for crimes against the empire of Japan should there be suspicion of nefarious activity.
Individuals found outside their approved travel area may be similarly detained.
Currency
As of February 15th of this year, the fabi, gold yuan and silver yuan used traditionally within Guanzhou as currencies will be abolished. The national gold and silver reserves of Guangzhou have been seized by the Japanese army upon seizure of the Guangzhou palace and transported to Kyoto for safe-keeping.
Should you hold an identity card from the Kempeitai, and bring your current currency to a Kempeitai office before February 15th, we will provide you with the value of your Guangzhou currency in Japanese yen and destroy the worthless paper you now hold.
Be vigilant. After February 15th, if someone attempts to pay you with Guangzhou currency, they are paying you with useless painted paper.
Curfew
A curfew of 8pm will be put in place for all Guangzhou residents. If your profession requires you to travel out of doors after 8pm your identity card will be marked appropriately and you will receive special dispension.
Travel
Travel outside your village or city district without permission from your local Kempeitai office can result in arrest and trial. If you have reason to travel, seek permission first.
Loyalty
A number of residents have taken it upon themselves to actively resist the Japanese imperial army or to assist those who do. It is only through the mercy of the Emperor that these individuals not be executed by the Imperial Army immediately upon capture.
The emperor, in his mercy, has decreed that those who have taken up arms against us may turn themselves in and receive clemency. Those who have assisted the murderers can similarly receive mercy.
You will have until the 8th of January to receive the emperor’s mercy. After that date, all traitors will be tried, and if found guilty, executed.
The emperor’s grace extends also to those good people of Guangzhou who, moved by love for the Emperor and loyalty to their nation, provide the Kempeitai with the names or activities of those involved in treason. These individuals will receive the blessings of the emperor and may receive permissions to operate businesses, ignore curfew, or even receive additional food or currency rations.
