Longest thread on CFC

I found out that the Double Your Pleasure modpack thread in the Civ3 modpack forum reached 2000 replies (or 100 pages) milestone today. (yeah, I know this is really shocking )

Could this be the longest thread on CFC?

I agree, that is the longest I've seen. Isn't there some sort of limit to the number of pages?

Not really. In Collosseum forums, we have an artificial limit of 300 posts per thread.

I was not sure about extremely long threads' effect on forum performance so I asked Jelsoft (vBulletin developer). Here's their reply:

There are no performance issues since the posts in a thread are never called up all at once (unless the thread is shorter than the posts per page setting). Some people have threads with 10,000 or more replies.

I am sure the longest thread will be found in OT if the 300 posts limit is removed there...

Yeah, bclg, it's longer than most, but 350 posts is a far cry from 2000.

but pamda its been 300 posts in about 2 or 3 weeks it could easilty go beyond 2000 quite soon at this rate

bclg: Doing some quick math -- (it took 15 days to reach 350, so how long to reach 2000? : 15/350 = n/2000)

It should take not quite 3 months to reach 2000 posts at the current rate. Or a little over 2 months from now.
