LotR29 Odd Aztecs

Also, did the pictures help tell the story?
Absolutely, thanks a lot! :goodjob: As a lurker who never opens the game, it's much easier to understand what's going on.

And forget my question about how many cities you plan to have...I understand surviving has a higher priority right now.

I've got it, but not sure I'll have time to play my full ten turns. I'll keep the save until Wednesday afternoon, just before I go to work and then pass it off. For now...

Unfortunately I was too busy, so I didn't even get to play one turn, so Arathorn's save is still valid. I'll be away from the internet entirely until late Saturday, so if anyone can play a turn or two, go ahead. I'll take it on Sunday.

Sorry, Thanksgiving week has been busy for me.

It's OK, Methos. Sparthage, if you can take it, this would be a great time!

Else, we'll reevaluate after Thanksgiving holiday here in the states.

Arathorn
As much as I'd like to play, I must decline. Thanksgiving (Grandparents in town) and Civ3 SG turnsets (2 of them) have me completely busy.

Methos,

Thanks for grabbing. Real life has been kicking me around lately. If you can complete your turnset in reasonable time, we can pas off to Sparthage over the weekend, when he hopefully has computer access, so the four of us can share responsibility (err...blame) evenly.

Arathorn

Take it Sparthage. I've been too busy to do even a single turn.
I'll be able to play on Monday, but I'm already behind on other Civ SGs. *Sigh* If the next person wants to play this weekend, go ahead, and I'll pick up on Monday. If not, then I'll play with the current set.

Sorry about this but, Monday didn't work and I tried to make time yesterday and wasn't able to, sorry. If no one else wants to play the set, I can still play on Friday for sure.

I played 20-ish turns. I'm not at home right now, so I can't post the save right now but...

What Happened:
-We recaptured Hanoi
-Made peace with at least 1 Civ
-Are nearing the capture of the Iroquois capital (...again on my turnset)
-Killed roughly 15-25 enemy units (Mostly Iroquois and Persian)
-Lost 1 spear, and maybe a horseman (To Indian Knights)
-Most civs still won't discuss peace (This might change if we launch campaigns against them)

Sparthage -- please do post the save. Sounds like good progress.

Jaffa, playing Monday is great. I'll go after you. I think/hope I will have some time this week, at some point. I've been able to play, in theory, but I just played the last set.

Arathorn

I believe this is the right save. And here's a pic.

Played 14 turns (to finish at turn 175).

At the start of my turns I found everybody was willing to make peace except for India, so I made peace with everyone except India and Iroquois. After I hit the next turn button Hiawatha came to offer all his money and luxuries for peace. We, being savage warrior Aztecs bent on claiming his capital as a culture-farm, refused.

turn 162

Sacrificed (in the proper Aztec way) one of our two GG to start a golden age.

Our troops killed some Iroquois archers, and surrounded their capital.

And then I sell our newly acquired marble to Napoleon for cold hard cash.

turn 164

We are short of workers, so I use some of Napoleon's cash to buy one.

Our troops are advancing on Akwesasme.

Promotions for longsword and knight. For the first time ever I take (and make use of) the woodsman promotion! I bet those archers thought they were safe

Our workers start on a road from Grand River to Onondaga.

turn 168

Hiawatha is down to two cities. It isn't in our interests to wipe him out (I think?), so I offer him a peace deal for everything he has that isn't nailed down.

I never usually agree to these. I think the UI for them is incredibly bad -- it annoys me that they come and ask and I have to immediately give an answer without being able to go and check on the current diplomatic and game situation. But Wu Zetian has been our friend forever and we have extra dyes coming out of our ears, so for once I accept.

turn 169

I send our troops advancing on Genoa, hated enemy of cultural city-state Seoul. We steal a worker.

turn 173

Taking Genoa gets us to friends with Seoul. I give them a small additional gift to push them to ally status.

I spy an Indian knight hanging around Orleans.

IT "China has lost its capital city"

turn 174

India apparently feels that the time is right for another assault on Hanoi.

I leave the next leader with a few more cities, and an "interesting" situation at Hanoi!
