LS Civilization Set

LastSword exists on the fray. His civs don't include E&D support, nor support for most other mods.

Although I did notice there is a LS mod to include TSL for his civs, unfortunately...it is out of date. Is there a way this could be updated?

Also, I have noticed that the TSL location for LS Israel consistently places them in western Africa. I have tried to fix this in the mod but I must be doing something wrong because if I change the location then none of the civs load in YnAEMP. I have also tried updating the mod myself with the missing civs and their TSL but that too causes none of the civs to load in YnAEMP. I wonder what I am doing wrong.

Lastsword...I really enjoy your civs. They are essential to my 60 civ games and they are a lot fun to play.

Spent some time playing with the newest set. Extremely fun!

Beautiful leaderscreens too :)

Hello.
Indeed, the support for this mod is quite rough. Check this thread and explain your issue with details. I am sure somebody there will understand the problem, because I do not. :(
Thanks, hopefully none of my civs ruin your games.

Making leaderscenes is a lot of fun if you have a concept in mind and are lucky enough to find proper assets on the web. :)

I have found a huge balance issue: the Durrani.
I am playing with a friend (multiplayer), and he is the Durrani. He manages to have 12 Great Writings on turn 170. He has an insane number of GWP per turn, about 80. We're playing on a tradional pangea map. And I am the one with most mountains. (he has about twelve)

Luckily, I was playing yesterday against Durrani, so I have collected some data.
At T270, they had 6 Mountains and 5 Great Works of Writing in Amphitheatres, which resulted in +23 GW points.
The only "bug" I found is that Mountains give 2.25 GW points instead 1.5 (I have x1.5 twice). You can fix it in line 70 in DurraniCivRelated.lua (set from 1.5 to 1). Though maybe I did it intentionally so I don't know if it is "bug".

Anyway, your friend bonus 12 * 2.25 and 12 * 2 (assuming all great writings are in amphitheatre, though I except National Monument or something like that) = 51. +7 from base, 58, so he had probably a bit less, but +75% modifier should give him around 80.

12 GW is 7800 points? Great, so he needed around 100 turns of +80 bonus... Something is quite wrong. Let's say he got Great Writer from Globe Theatre. Maybe you played on quick time. Or maybe he got Pottery in Ruins, got Great Library and made Writing Guild around T50, started wasting population there instantly. Math doesn't check. :P At this point I would like to say that it is Multiplayer Issue, but I unfortunately coded it too bulletproof. (However, I want you to note that playing my civs in Multi is extremely risky)

Now is the hard part, you have to enlighten me what is a huge balance issue. I think you just got a bit scared of big numbers. What is a Great Work? Phef. :)
The whole point of the civ was to encourage player to create Great Works of Literature instead waiting for and popping Cultural Boost.
Your friend needs now 1300 GW points (has 80 per turn), how it is related to 100 ~ 11 per turn. The point is that his total Culture isn't much higher than it would be if he would wait with Great Writers and he got some extra Tourism. Maybe the Culture distribution is an issue, because he got it earlier, so there is snowball effect.

UU - late game, my only modern one, irrevelant in this case, let's say it is decent.
UB - Amphitheatre, +1 Happiness, +2 GW points only IF the great work slot is filled. Humm, I would say it is vanilla balance, but it is stronger than Royal Library after all.
UA1 - Mountains, +1.5/2.25 GW points per Mountain in your territory. It is imbalanced in the same way as any terrain related bonus, from useless to overpowered. There is a map where 20% of land are mountains... Incas are OP. I should probably remove it then.
UA2 - Culture Bonus ~ this one I agree, is OP, but around T250, when you have a lot of culture per turn and you basically gain twice the Cultural Boost. I am probably gonna nerf it to "Gain Half of the Culture Boost bonus upon creating Great Work of Literature". I am gonna nerf it to dust.

UA: Gain Half of the Culture Boost bonus upon creating Great Work of Literature. Can build/obtain (edit: meh :P easy stuff) Observatory if there is Mountain nearby city.
UU: ?? will see, I don't like modern stuff
UB: Amphitheatre: +1 Happiness if slot of GWoL is filled. Provides GW points: +3 if Mountain adjacent, +2 if nearby, +1 otherwise.

I can replace some of the Culture bonus with Scientific one (observatory). Anyway, feel free to suggest what you feel is the huge imbalance and should be changed. :P I actually like balance discussions, finding a bug is great too.

Ok,maybe it were 15 mountains and 11 works (he said that turn he earned another Writer, and before he said that he had 22 tourism). We have about just discovered the tech of the artist guild, so no artists. He indeed has a huge modifier (garden, national epic, patronage).

The biggest problem with making that many Writers, is that they can deplete. And then you have a "Great Writer" without name, unable to write anything else but political treaties.

However, I want you to note that playing my civs in Multi is extremely risky
I don't think they give problems. They seem extremely stable. I don't know yet if Switerland works (because I doubt if popups work). The Carribean do show something in the logs

Ahh, actually Durrani adds about 10 new great writers. I am personally using More Great Works or something like that. I am gonna nerf Durrani anyway by making it interesting in another way. Though, Genoa may be even stronger version of Durrani so beware. :)

It's great if the mods work in multi, but I wanted to warn you that I have never considered them to work on multi and a lot of my mods is using "UI elements - popup stuff like".

About the Caribbean. Oh, the mystical Runtime error! Unfortunately the issue is from another mod, which add to "UnitPromotions_UnitCombats()" a promotion that doesn't exist. Please copy this (replace the current stuff around line 27 in notepad):
Code:
for row in GameInfo.UnitPromotions_UnitCombats() do
if GameInfo.UnitPromotions[row.PromotionType] then
	if not GameInfo.UnitPromotions[row.PromotionType].CannotBeChosen then
		if row.UnitCombatType == "UNITCOMBAT_MELEE" then
			validPL[GameInfo.UnitPromotions[row.PromotionType].ID] = true;
		elseif row.UnitCombatType == "UNITCOMBAT_NAVALMELEE" then
			validPS[GameInfo.UnitPromotions[row.PromotionType].ID] = true;
		end
	end
else
print("LSTARE", row.PromotionType)
end
end
It will fix the error for you and print the unvalid stuff, so you will be able to locate a mod that is causing it. After Game Load open lua log and find the print (LSTARE). It is probably some kind of leftover that was once removed from mod.

Gotta agree with that. That's quite some impressive leaderscene. It sorta reminds me of Babylon's leader whose name I'm too lazy to write down... dude is beyond impressive nonetheless.

Also, congrats on making the Haida legendary on reddit's AIbattles section. :crazyeye:

I can't believe it's few days and no one said how stunning that leaderscreen is :eek:

That is one glorious leaderscene! Praise the greatness of Mansa Musa!:D

Yes, tell me more about it in my own thread. I can't do much with just that line, though.

Hello.
From what I am aware, only Tibetan UU is not working properly, which is still a shame. There are also some cosmetic things I am gonna fix, but not affecting gameplay. My plans are to update sets 2, 3, 8, 9 in a week. So if anyone is too shy for making a request, now is a good moment to make one. If you think a trait/unique or leaderscene is not worthy, I might work on it this weekend. Obviously, if you are holding some knowledge about bugs, share it?

From my side, I would like to listen to some generic (aka the one fitting to maaany civs) music, which I could use for Tahiti. Would add set IX to the list of never touch again sets :P.
Thanks.

Hi Derek and Brandon Fiechter made a lot of soundtracks, for many many cultures:

My plans are to update sets 2, 3, 8, 9 in a week. So if anyone is too shy for making a request, now is a good moment to make one.

I have just two requests:
Tahiti: a bit like the Sami from MC, 1 production on adjacent coastal tiles for cities founded first on a continent. That's max 6 production extra in a one-tile city, right?
Mali: There is no resource that spawns on snow. Can salt please be an option?

Maybe also give the Sythians something eternals on their UB.

Otherwise... :goodjob:

Sorry, no music, I gave Moriboe some songs.

Humm, I had some time to work on my version of Trait Randomizer and I don't think it can work with just lua. Therefore, use the original one with the support. Right now, set 1,2,3,7,8,9,11,16 are recoded for it. The Half.

It turned out that Tibetan knight was working properly... but updated set anyway for various changes. Changelog.
(2) Added Sioux music. Fixed cosmetic error with Papal States.
(3) Timurid UA - removed part with intimidating City-States.
(3) Timurid UU - reduced combat bonus while at fresh water to 15% (from 25%)
(3) Mali UB - 1 gold per 5 population (instead 4), gold from killing unit reduced from 20% to 15% per building (100% is equal to Honor finisher)
(3) Added all the music needed (6/6)
(8) Tibetan UA - Cultural defense from Faith per turn cannot be greater than total culture per turn. Increased Medidation cost a bit and made it so that Great Prophet will always have proper religion assigned.
(8) Scythian UU - now requires Archery (instead Animal...) and costs 48 (instead 40)
(8) Scythian UB - colosseum, no maintainence (instead 1), +1 Culture, land units gain +8 XP upon first visit;
(8) Scythian UA - connects horses without improving them. can work horses with two citizens
(8) Fixed war/peace music of Scythia.
(9) Fixed thing with notifications for Gallia.
(9) Tahitian UU (Pahi) will now be disbanded if creates a Fishing Boats after the discovery of Astronomy.
(9) Tahitian UA - Founded cities gain more Production and Culture with every turn without Population growth. Bonus increasement is greater if the city is unrevealed to rivals. (At normal speed bonus will rise by 1 (3)% (if unrevealed) per turn, cap is based on tech; from 100% at start to 15% at Satelittes)

And some new polished graphics:

Is that guy Meiji? He looks like Meiji.

Oh, and that Tahitian new unique ability seems so magnifically exploitable, must play a game with them.

Nice changes all the way around.
