ls612's C2C Units

@Hydro:

I'm not going to be doing the Llama changes until after V24 is released, as they seem far-reaching for a freeze change. All of the other changes are in now. Please don't ask for any new art until V24 is released, as SO needs to make a new set of FPKs before release.

Ok however people do ride llamas ...

They can also pull carts. So I want to make a llama chariot too.

I'm not against making them, I'm just against making them during the freeze. After V24 is released I'm more than willing to make the Llamas, as well as add the Ornithopter.

@ls612

When you updated the giant panda you did not copy over the size stuff. Zoo Tycoon models are extremely small compared to Civ4 ones and as a result they appear very tiny if you don't chnage their stats.

In the Art Defines file for it in needs to be changed to ...

Code:
<fScale>30.0</fScale>

Also ...

Code:
			<ShadowDef>
				<ShadowNIF>Art/Units/01_UnitShadows/HorseShadow.nif</ShadowNIF>
				<ShadowAttachNode>LionBip Spine1</ShadowAttachNode>
				<fShadowScale>0</fShadowScale>
			</ShadowDef>

Because the shadow will be too huge if you don't.

Same goes for the Subdued Panda.

In short please try to fix before the update, otherwise it will appear as a tiny ant sized panda.

Sorry, I fixed that now.

Thanks! :goodjob:

@Hydro:

I'm fine with adding carrier pidgeons, but can we name them Carrier Pigeons instead of homing pigeons, the latter makes me think of a type of ordinance.:rolleyes: Other than that, I'll add them once I finish with the rest of my colossal backlog.

Sure Carrier Pigeon sounds fine. Just make sure the later is called a War Pigeon since that's what they were called in WWI.

Thanks! Good luck with your backlog. Guess you must yearn for the days when I did not have anything for you to do yet. ;)

I've been thinking about the pigeons, and I have some issues with them. First of all, in ancient times, pigeons were primarily used for communication, which is not really represented in civ. They would ferry a message from one person to another, but would not generally conduct reconaissance. The later pigeon would be a good early recon unit, but I think it should have a chance of not coming back from a mission, unrelated to the enemy AA capabilities (they could die or get eaten, or shot by some farmer). I'm not certain how to do that, as I think that the kamikaze is only for attacks.

If I can make them I will add them. That's the only limit at the moment.

Every unit and building we add further slows down turn procesing (it doesn't matter if any have been built or not, they all add to it, though extant ones more of course). It's a small effect, but in aggregate significant, so we shouldn't add too many things that don't add uniqueness just for flavour.

I am going to have to agree with Koshling on this one guys, there are getting to be way to many "specialized" units, infact, i'd rather not see any unit from before Transhuman from now on, lets get those in first and worry about the smaller era's later that already have lots and lots of units, especially need them for the Galactic Era.

Cool, that means I can scrap the pigeon stuff, which I thought was rather quirky in the first place. Sorry Hydro. :D
