ls612's C2C Units

@ls612

I noticed the Bombard Mammoth has a few problems ...

1. its missing its strategy and pedia text.

2. I think the model is wrong. It should use this. Note that our button/icon is just fine.

ls612 now that you have taken the unit creation job what are your plans for improving some future units

We've had some discussions earlier on this thread about land units into the Galactic Era, but that is mostly Hydro's domain with my input.

However, I plan on designing most of the space combat mechanics, with the exception of the propulsion and colonization methods, which Hydro also has ideas on.

@ls612

Try this autogyro. I moved the meshes up. If they need to be higher let me know.

It could be a good bit higher, now it is going through the trees.:rolleyes: Also, would it be possible to get the blades to rotate, or is that beyond your capabilities?

I have ALOT of ideas for Transhuman Era units..when i finish the techs ill present them to ls612 and Hydro..and from there they choose yay or nay.

So do I. Hopefully some co-creation and collaboration shall make some awesome units neither one of us would have thought up on our own.

Sorry its stuck with no animations. I don't know how to do that.

Try this model. I moved it even higher.

OK, now there are multiple problems. First, the thing is still too low. Second, the propeller has a borked texture, it messes up whatever is behind it. Third, there are some odd things on the ground underneath the unit.:( All of this is in the attakced screenie.

@ls612

I always wondered why calvary upgraded to helicopters then I discovered it was a USA thing. I am fairly sure in Commonwealth countries (UK, Canada, Australia, NZ etc.) they upgraded to light tanks.

Yes it is, infact I was in the 101st Airborne Division, and they have a tradition each year to go to the States Fair in Denver and do all the OLD Cavalry Stuff, and the Uniform/Horses to go with it, its really neat looking, and i like the uniforms, but i am glad i never had to wear that "heavy" stuff.

Heh! I just read the answer in the AH64 Gunship pedia before you asked the question ...

A gunship is an armed helicopter. They are the cavalry of the modern army, designed to reconnoiter enemy positions, deploy special forces deep behind enemy lines, and so forth...

Just remember the Movie "Apocalypse Now." When the Helicopters came across the water, it had the Cavalry insignia on each copper.

The Queen's Horse Guard are a light tank regiment.

Interesting point . . . i wonder if we could do something about this, sounds like a job for ls612;)

I believe we still have the old Afforess system that you can put certain units in certain fields of units near the bottom of each unitinfo's/civilization?? Its like a UU but suited for that civ only.

From a game balance standpoint I separated the mounts into 3 categories ...

1. Calvary (Horse/Camel/Zebra) -> Gunships
2. Elephants -> Tanks
3. Chariots/War Wagons -> Armored Cars

This seem the most easy transition for those units since Elephants are much more tank-like than a horse. It also made the unit upgrade tree a little less chaotic.

I agree with Hydro, disregarding cultural differences between America and the former British Empire game-wise the helicopter has the closest combat role to the cavalry. The Elephant in the Ancient world was a walking tank for all intents and purposes.
