Any answers to my questions? Did you try my suggestion of patching to version 1.29b2? Or was it already patched? Can you confirm that you see nothiing on screen before the crash?

Do you have a save file that demonstrates this. I can try loading it up here and see if it's your set-up.

Well, I loaded it up, met four new civs, including Greece wtih no trouble, traded maps, and techs and finished up with another 500 gold and 30 gpt. So the save's OK, and it's probably a corrupt file in your setup. I notice you've changed the name of the Babylonians to the African Asians. Have you modified anything else in your setup? For example, if you've edited the pediaIcons.txt file to match this name for Babylon, you need to use a text editor that writes the correct line endings.

cpierce said:Actually, I've had to run Civ III on OS 8.6for the time being (I have 8.6 on a separate partition). Talk about working in the dark ages. I don't even have the proper video drivers for 8.6 (if they even exist).
Hmm... Dunno. A mystery. One thing that popped to mind was account preferences being reset on the server (happens all the time to humungous General Electric network). On the off-chance it is, she might want to log in to her work server and see what the settings are to handle her when she logs in from off-premesis.dojoboy said:... the utility (adobe acrobat approval 5) has begun d/l'ing as a .asp file rather than opening up to her work's online data bank.
...Any idea why this has begun happening?
