I wrote a turnlog, but 9 of the turns were "nothing" or "nada" so I trashed it and will summarize. In the war with Catherine, I attempted to take Moskau, defended by only two LB's, but I forgot LB's get a big bonus against knights so I got slaughtered. I then signed peace for all her gold/gpt. I rushed the Taj Mahal after the lib finished. After peace I then concentrated on health, as this was a huge problem. I started krogers in cities plagued by sickness (most of the cities were) because we got the most out of our resources. I also changed civics, religion to pacifism for better great people, and caste system for a reason I can't remember. But there was a reason. I stayed in vassalage for the unit support, which might be needed if we choose to strike Catherine again. Some cities are now building Hindu Monasteries so they can build missionaries to spread Hinduism in New York for the great people increase from Pacifism.

On a different subject, I founded Atlanta in Russian ruins and built culture in russian cities so they could work tiles and become useful eventually.

Btw, the Globe Theater is there because Rostov will be helpful to us one day as a core city. The Globe Theater kills unhappiness, so if we war with Catherine again (which we should, she's becoming too powerful) that city will stay fine like it was native. I think it's 13 turns, not bad.

Own: One comment. You don't have to remember what the bonuses are of what vs what. You use the trick of holding down the alt key with the unit selected and the mouse over the unit you want to attack.

You should do this before every attack IMO unles it is really obvious (with civ4 being still new to me, I pretty much always check).

This game has really had a string of bad luck. We have had floods, broken computers, grounded, computers unable to run civ 4 not to mention needing to wait for the patch. GL to Bedhead and nsthmdy on getting their comps back online.

1430 AD: Grr! I make a horrible misclick. I accidentally click capture instead of Raze on Vladavostock. Now we have that useless city up north. Out of curiosity does the AI still have forknowledge of future resources? If so that may explain it. Maybe it was just the Marble. In any case we are stuck with it.

Next time you go to war with Catherine, you might consider un-defending it. If they fall for the bait and take it, you can re-take and raze.
