Mafia Game- The New Year

Day 1
The citizens of Town woke up after the oddly short sign-up period (Sorry Love!) to find two esteemed members of the community dead. Actually only one died. How did this happen they asked. It's almost as if these mafiosi suck and DON'T SEND IN KILLS!!! Jerks.

Nobody expected to find local fisherman Lightfang with a can of worms stuffed down his throat.

Lightfang was sniped by a soldier while operating in a giant desert.

GM comment: Only one mafia sent in a kill. I don't know what the precedent in this is, but I didn't think it was fair for me to decide who would die so that person just killed Lightfang as well. I don't think I made the clue to easy but it's still solvable.

It is now DAY Voting is open. Midday post in 24 hours, Night in 48

I don't really have any insights into the first clue (I'm not exactly a mafia regular around here) but I'm pretty sure that the second one is a rather obvious NotW XXII reference.

Aren't they all soldiers in the desert? Who's in that game and this one?

OOC:

1. It's LightFang!

:p

2. If nobody sends in a kill, you just make a true clue, but nobody dies as a result. At least, that's what I did.

I also vote Icekommander. He plays in NotW XXII, and the second clue seems like a reference to that, as ForestAuro said. Also, he hasn't been online in a while and thus wouldn't have been able to send a kill (judging by post/last login times, if CCRunner did send out the PMs five minutes after closing signups, as he predicted, then Icekommander would have had one minute in which to send a kill before he logged off), so that might be the true clue that CCRunner made.

Now, the first clue, that might be a frame of me (although it's more likely to be a frame of Empiremaker) so I'll keep quiet about it.

I think that bit about your can of worms comment is a little obscure :x

I'd pick Empiremaker because the Mariners thing seems overly obvious and if I was going to leave a true clue, I'd make it look like a very poor frame.

I don't think that runner should have told us one of the mafiamen didn't send in a kill. We can just look at Icekommander's logon history and pretty much infer that he's guilty. (Doesn't stop me from voting for him though :D)

Icekommander Was absent, and so must die.

I'm victim to the bandwagon...:scan:

Icekommander and Empiremaker.

God dangit I go away for a week and look what happens when I come back! EmpireMaker for one, and the second will be forthcoming (Can't belive you have me pegged already :()

Edit: Nice job covering your tracks Catharsis

Edit2: Looking at Electric's location, it states Cosmo Land. THe Cosmos is a desert of sorts, and he is also the GM of the NOTW.

You're right. I cast my second vote vor Catharsis. He's just acting a bit too fishy.

Midday
The people of Town quickly decided to lynch their members, quickly jumping on IceKommander and EmpireMaker. Would they condemn two of their own to die? Or would the beautiful town of Town be spared from the mafia? Only time and hangings would tell...

votes so far
IceKommander- 5
Catharsis- 3
EmpireMaker- 4
Electric926- 1

Night post in 24 hours

I'd pick Empiremaker because the Mariners thing seems overly obvious and if I was going to leave a true clue, I'd make it look like a very poor frame.

I realise you changed your vote after this, but I can't really understand the logic here... the mafia would leave an obvious true clue on Night 1, when the townspeople have nothing else to go on? That's a death sentence, and if he wasn't twice-dead then Light-'wheels-within-wheels'-Fang would be able to confirm this. :mischief:

And well, there's always a fish clue, but I don't think Empiremaker has ever made it.

Edit: Nice job covering your tracks Catharsis

What? Where?

Also, Backwards Logic is the GM of the NotW, not electric.

Also, Catharsis [...] (Seems just too organized)

:D Well I'm happy to be accused of that! Again, I can't see the logic behind it, though. I just linked Icekommander, who had already been voted for, with some reasoning that had already been used, and I looked at logoff times which is the obvious thing to do when one mafioso hasn't sent in a kill. And that makes me mafia?

As for the second clue, while I can see how posting the link to the 'can of worms' post might look suspicious, that was the very reason I kept quiet and didn't vote - so you could judge that clue without being influenced by what I, a possible suspect, said.

Anyway, I am going to vote now, for what it's worth. I think the 'Nobody expected' part is signifcant, because it's pretty unusual for a kill to start that way, and the thing that nobody expects is, of course, the Spanish Inquisition. And Spanish Inquisition gags are choxorn's bag. For example:

I don't think there's exactly a lot of empirical evidence for anyone right now - but you've come out incredibly strong with a flechette cannon full of links and reasoning of how the clues could apply to a number of people. You've just made a big deal about how it was practically suicide to include a clue about yourself on the first night - and you convienantly pointed out that it was probably a "frame" of you.

If the typical mafia expectation is a untrue clue first and a true clue second, wouldn't you just be wrecking everyone's day by immediately showing how the (possibly true) clue can apply to you (and therefore isn't actually truthful)?

I'm not exactly versed on the typical meanderings of mafia (this is my first game) but it seems pretty much like a game of deception to me. Ignore the clue - I'm going off who seems the most deceptive - and right now it's you :/
