Where's the waterfall and army base?
I'm going to try some experimental concepts for my Large Game Return of the Knights Maifa in small scale here starting in July. This is just me expressing my thoughts, so excuse me if it's a bit unorganized.
I'm creating a map (actually borrowing the physical map) and using a map concept. So, the cops and drug dealer (role still in the works) would perform night actions on streets or areas as marked by a map. The mafia would make a kill on a person, but it would take place in an area.
Everyone, whether they are performing a night action or not, will be RNG'd to an area each night, allowing the possibility for there to be witnesses to a kill, drug deal, or other types of actions. So the cops would investigate an area, and there could be an event happening there or not that they can or cannot stop/arrest/kill guilty party.
It's a different type of cop role. It's more of a stakeout than an investigation. And the drug dealer is still in the works as a third-party neutral, maybe a mafia add-on role in RotK. It's a bit rough right now as I'm not sure what their abilities or VCs would be. To go along with that I'm contemplating a jail system to be a part of it, but that is a bit far-out for me and probably won't be introduced in RotK. Maybe in a later game, since I plan to be around here for awhile.
My small scale test will be a mini with a Halo theme and a Halo multiplayer map as a setting. For RotK, I am going to create my own city block map. Since Paint really sucks, does anyone have a suggestion on how to make a good map?
Any thoughts/comments are much appreciated. I'd also like to know if anyone has used (or attempted) concepts like this before so I could get some feedback from them on this.
I know I'm a visual person, so I could post an example night with a map if someone thought that would give them more ability to provide feedback.
@Dreadnought&Buddhafish: good!
I try to do 'mapped' game myself (a smaller scale - it would be a map of a spaceship, with rooms and corridors. I was thinkung about mechanic similar to what you want for cops, Buddha). I would gladly try yours.
