3.20Ghz is great, except that with only 1 core, your OS and background tasks could be eating some of the clock speed up, probably 5-10%. That's why Civ4 is still a bit faster with dual core, one core can be dedicated for Civ, the other for the OS.

Also, you could always build a desktop, and re-use the graphics card. I've built my own, it isn't that hard. Oh, and its 15% cheaper than buying it from Dell or Best Buy.

Cheap? You could reduce MAF's by getting 4gb of ram, that costs ~60 bucks.

To a certain extend. As a rule of thumb I believe you should always have a minimum of 10% free space left. But whether you have 20% or 80% left should not matter.

Low RAM. 2gb is the low end of what I would recommend, with 3+ for optimal performance.

Although, Pentium 4's aren't that great either, it's just an old computer, really. Let me guess, 4 years old, right?

It's a PITA to open because it's in an alcove (would take awhile...) do you know how many RAM slots it has? IIRC 4
NVM I got it open (my dad took the lock off it) it has 4 slots

Turn Kaspersky off temporarily during download and install

Either turn off Kaspersky or update it to the latest virus definitions. I got AND whitelisted a few months back.
