Alexman says the save version will be changed but backwards compatible. The main concern here is the "early next week" line he says. I think it means only "next month". What do you guys think about it? Postponing one week would kill interest?

Also, I forgot to ask. Ozzy, did you remember about the "No Vassals" option?

Personally I won't be upgrading for a while, so suggest we start with 3.02 (or 3.03).

I think we'll be all right. Essentially, if everyone upgrades to 3.13 once it has been released (has been promised next week for a while now) we'll be fine.

Can you still make colonies with the no vassals option selected? Does it have any other impact beyond no vassal states? Sorry if this has been covered before, but couldn't find an answer from searching.

No Vassals/Colonies but still getting colony penalties would certainly make for an 'interesting' domination!

Actually, this was the reason I asked Ozzy to remove vassals. I read somewhere that without vassals the colonial expenses would revert to zero.
If he did forget the option, I think Gyathaar has a savegame editor for these options. I just don't know if he updated his version to BtS.

I've just been testing this in worldbuilder... you're quite right there. As far as I can tell, no vassals = no colonial expenses. Beyond the fairly hefty distance from palace stuff ofc.

OK, I had a bit more spare time than I thought and have put up the starting saves on post #2 of this thread.

I had issues with your save Conroe (wouldn't easy upload) so attached it instead. Can everyone check their save for errors (let me know and I'll fix them).

Start reporting anytime from now. Deadline is next Friday but let's try and get it done quicker, so we can start on the next round quicker.

I'm Gilgamesh and I'm starting with a Scout instead of a warrior. Does this constitute a problem?

Same thing with my Hammurabi save; scout instead of warrior. Otherwise it looks fine.

Nothing has been mentioned so far about using Solver's patch. I don't use it (waiting for the official 3.13 patch instead), but perhaps someone else is using it. Maybe this has been considered when comparing the saves later.

As Elizabeth I should have a warrior not scout, but what I did was go into world builder to change it.

I really really did not look or see anything. Just zoom in close to the unit, cover the mini map with your hand, do the business, get out of there.

I'm guessing Ozbenno will change the saves, but I wanted to play today.

It was the same way in MLG2, as well. I'm assuming that it is the only way to ensure an equitable start amongst the various leaders. Scouts get better goody hut results and can explore more than Warriors. If we didn't all start with Scouts, then those that did would have an advantage over those that start with a Warrior.

It would have been better to just disable goody huts. Now the people who start without Hunting get an advantage, and you can still get lucky starts by popping MC or IW from a hut.

Yeah the scout instead of warrior occured to me later. Its because the first save (ie the generation of the map) contained a scout and I didn't change it according to civs (funnily enough no-one noticed this in MLG2 ).

If you want it changed I'll change it (or do as mice did). If you prefer the scout you can keep it. PM me if you want me to change it for you.
