Is it me or the map shapes/continents here are more unique, when comparing to the other videos (where they are square-ish)...
The map itself also seem to be larger in size...

Yes, as I mentioned it's probably the Archipleago map script, which is different than the Continents and Continents+ map scripts that we have seen most players using.

He probably meant the the largest map type, which is "Standard" and that has only 8 players at most. There won't be a Large size map at launch. Larger maps will only come with later DLCs.

Minor correction - they are likely to come with patches, not DLC. While some additional map types could be part of DLCs (it happened before), such fundamental thing as map size is quite unlikely.

You could always reduce the number of civs on map. So, you'll still be able to play even huge maps with base game, you'll just either have 10 civs on the map, or enable duplicates.

Here is his comment in french answering to a question on the max number of civs in a game :
"Je mets toujours la taille la plus grande et j’ai eu 10 civ, donc je pense que 10 est le max"
in english :
"I put always the largest size and i had 10 civs, so i think the max is 10"
Unfortunatly this second video is not the following of the first one and so we don't see which parameters he has selected.
So since 8 is for standard (on his first game he put standard and 8 civs), maybe 10 is for a larger map but i also see on his first game that it may be possible to add civ (i said maybe because i'm not sure the button is activated when the 8 civs are present in standard size).

I'm francophone myself (from the province of Québec). Can you give the time stamp of when he mentions this?
Just to say, I think he is making assumptions as to how many Civs he may playing with, as we have seen the start-up screen in other streams and the largest map available at this point is Standard size with 8 Cvis total (5 in the Homelands, 3 in the Distant lands).

the sentence i put is in the comments of the exploration video. In the video itself, at 2'50 he tells that there are 10 players but he doesn't show it. Unfortunatly we don't see how he creates this game.
Which map types are you most likely going to play in Civ 7?
I know Pangea is out because of the distant lands feature (at least for a full playthrough)

1. Not sure having earth map now makes sense with players having the choice to select different civilization at start of each Age.
2. Furthermore, not all civilizations have same linked civilisation from Age 1 to Age 3.
3. Even if it is linked, the names may not be real indication of the current location. That what I think.
4. Would prefer the developers to provide a larger map or even huge map which will enable players to play up to minimum of 10-12 civilizations. Of course, more than 12 civilizations would also be welcomed.
5. I can postulate, my guess, that Civ 7 may lose some hardcore fans, in the long run, if there is NO Real Earth map.
6. Having said the above, the current maps, as seen in the demo videos look fantastic. Only wish those may are enabled in large or huge.
