I've noticed that the vast majority of games I play have uneven spacing among the civs. For example, I am starting on one end of the landmass, and the only other two civs are so close their BFCs are toughing.

Another thing is when there will be 1-3 civs on one continent, but 8-9 on the other.

Does anybody know what is happening? It makes games either brutally difficult or ridiculously easy.

I have the same problem with fractal maps. For example in my last game i had 4-5 civs that only had room to place 4-6 cities, while 2 civs were able to easily expand to 12+ cities. They both became huge empires after they defeated their closest neighbor and now these have 2 times the score of the third on the list. if spaceship victory was aviable in this game they would be a few turns from winning as they have almost completed the tech tree (turn 240 or so, quick speed)
