March of the 300

Right. OK.

Well, look at the Normandy landings as a kind of prequel to that whole bunker movie.

Look. Is that really in the movie? Is that in the comic book? That's seriously out of order. I can accept a great wall of dead bodies being shoved into the sea, and all that. But a domesticated war rhinoceros?

I suppose being the only fairly well known 'persian nationalist' on the forum, you all were expecting at least some reaction from me on this, so here ya go:

The move 300 (I'm talking about the original, not this sequel which I don't know/don't care about) did not bother me in and of itself. Personally I got the impression that the target audience were boys between the ages of 13-17 that liked to play violent video games such as Call of Duty/Skyrim, and then Jerk off to porn while they're supposed to be doing their homework.

In other words, 'sophisticated' kinds of people are less likely to be attracted to the movie, even if they aren't persian.

None of this bothers me. The only thing I can legitimately say bothers me is that one of the directors said (forget which director it was and the exact quote) something to the tune of "the movie 300 is at least 90% accurate". This bothers me. Not just as a Persian, but as someone against that kind of blatant lying just to increase ticket sales. 300 was a nice round of masculine fighting in conjunction with some beautiful female flesh, as so-many adolescent boys like, and that's great. But to say everything went down that way in the real life actual situation? lol.

"Persian cowards" :mischief: :D

Really? Isn't Mr Delish saying it's not for him, but that he's fine with adolescent boys enjoying it?

Why's that a mixed message?

He was a bit detailed with describing the target audience, and the extra details were unflattering and unnecessary.

Ah. You mean he's judging others by his own, presumably past, experience?

I see.

300 was crap.... that Honest Trailer says it all.

"The cinama's yelliest king... from the Scottish part of Greece?" lol

What is this Hollywood anti-Persia riff? Can't wait for an Iranian version of these events.

I can't say it's for me. But what actually is wrong with it?

Sure, it's a homoerotic slashathon with cutesy female bits...

Hell, I think I'll get it on DVD, after all.

Why hasn't Iran made 10000 yet?

;)

Not much to make considering soon after Xerxes the new Persian king used his own mercenary hoplite force, which won him the civil war (Xenophon describes that in his Anabasis - of Cyrus) :)

I would prefer some movie about the Byzantine-Sassanid final showdown/mega war, along with the resulting rise of Islam. Age of Heraclius, or something :)
