Why the obvious "make a deal for a lump sum of money then pillage the improvement" wasn't fixed is beyond me. What was wrong with Civ4 approach, where you couldn't trade resources for lump gold? Or maybe the devs haven't even heard about Civ4?

It was a Civ4 approach. Therefore it had to be put into the dustbin.

Look at the game and you will find that almost anything which was decided for Civ4 has been reversed for Civ5. The blueprint for 5 was 3, copying even the possibility of entering other nation's territory and THEN declaring war (release version).

Its not Civ 4. If you want to play Civ 4, you can certainly do that.

Related question: How will I know that the patch has been done?

My li9ne is quite fast and steams is running all of the time. So Its very well possible that I wont see the download actualy being done. Is there a way to tell steam to give me a note when its done?

it does give you notes about finished downloads: popup at bottom right corner of desktop - easy to miss though. But downloads section in steam hold info about updates for longer (probably until you logout from steam (?) )

What do you mean? Did really expect that 2K will keep to their promise? They've promised us a good game before, all we've got was DLC's :)

I've got a couple of games where I'd pay blood to have the developers pay attention to fan mods the way this patch is going to, though. ;)

You can always check the game version to see if it's been updated on your game setup screen.

This.

And you should also be careful with having Steam open all the time before a patch comes out when you are in the middle of an interesting game, because (unless you set it not to do it), it will auto-update the game. This means your old save will most likely not be compatible with the latest patch, and you will have to start a new game which is a bit frustrating.

I'll probably start a new one anyway after the patch.

Exactly. In fact I want to play and thats the reason why Im not starting. The changelog seems very promising.

And about the setup screen: I dont want to start the game for that.

What's the exploit here? Is it just that you can sell them something over a period of turns (like a resource) for a lump sum and then take it back with a DoW?

You got it wrong, it works like this: You sell your resource, pillage it's tile, then repair the improvement, and then you can sell it again.:crazyeye:

It seems like me that that's a pretty easy thing for the player to fix himself. By, you know, just not doing it.

By the same token, no shooter should ever again use a combination of WASD and mouse to control movement :).

This. Thank you :)

|Yeah, especially in multiplayer. Or on HoF. But hey, solution is simple - do not use the AI! Or better yet, do not play the game at all! :D

I've never thought of doing something like that. But if it does work in Civ V, do we really think there are not (real life) world leaders that are dastardly and would stab you in the back if they got the chance.

This. Thank you :)

Not saying it shouldn't be fixed, obviously should. Just not that it's that big a deal (except for multiplayer). Personally I play games for the enjoyment, not to get onto some list. ;)
