BIG SUGGESTION ON POST BELOW!

I'm currently working on making a huge compilation of map changes I've come up with through studying the map and worldbuilder editing it for my games. It will take me a while to screenshot them all, and actually have the time to even do that. Until then, I thought it'd be a good idea to open up this thread to suggestions from everyone else.
Important areas I need suggestions in:
• East Russia
• Africa (to encourage better city placement by Europe and to show the diverse amount of colonies from all European nations, including Germany)
• Australia
• Ukraine (currently, there really is no reason to make a city there unless you're the Ottomans trying to take over Kiev through culture)

Some advice I have:

Leoreth's editing of Bolivia and Scandinavia are regions I'd say are near perfect, and I want to help add that touch to more neglected parts of the map. Some aesthetical and strategic advice I have.
1) when possible, don't let resources line up horizontally or vertically, as it looks more natural when they aren't. However, sometimes this is necessary.
2) Keep in mind that players will try to make megacities
3) Keep in mind dynamic resources

Venice:
Spoiler :

Add in rivers to the left and right to simulate the protection of Venice and to stop Germany from so easily taking the region.

East Russia:
Spoiler :

Distributed resources in order to encourage more accurate city placement along with more benefits for settling them

New England and Quebec:
Spoiler :

New York and Boston REALLY need to be moved down one for gameplay, aesthetics, and historicity. Added Montreal and a wheat in order to make Canada more buffed against the US
DbjTs52.png

Mexico and Central America:
Spoiler :

Moved a mountain in order to prevent a Pacific/Atlantic city south of Mexico City
Moved Guatamala one up to prevent the same issue
MK6PQuw.png

Libya and Sardinia:
Spoiler :

Added in Bengazi, and moved down the clam. Moved Trablus to the 600 AD position and moved the Uranium one up. Made Sardinia prettier by adding a town (for 600 and 1700 map)

The Orients
8dsuK5e.png

Added two teas in Japan, replacing one silk and replacing the silver which moved down to Nagasaki to replace the moved gold. Moved the whale. Moved Kagoshima to Nagasaki. Added a coal where Sapporo is to increase production there and give Japan coal. Added a coal near Vladivostok to make it more important. Added uranium a little south of the Hunan Province of China. Added fish near Taiwan. Removed a coal from Manchuria and moved it towards the desert west of Beijing. Moved coal in Korea to favor Seoul's cross. Moved the clam up away from Taiwan, but still reachable from it.

Palestine:
Spoiler :

Added river in Israel to simulate the fertile farmlands of the area, along with the strategic defense of the region. Changed the mine in Cyprus to a fort. Made the right part of Crete a hill and added a town for the 600 and 1700 maps.

Greenland and Iceland:
Spoiler :

The big change! The picture speaks for itself. Looks better and is accurate.

Great Britain and Denmark
Spoiler :

Moves whale to favor Edinburg, while moving resources meant for Newcastle away from the proximity. Added in Newcastle in the 1700 map. Added in an oil next to Denmark for Germany to take with plastics.

The Caribbean!
The image speaks for itself. I did extensive research and changed the area around.

EDIT, spices on Jamaica, not sugar. Sugar on Puerto Rico, not spices

Bangladesh
Spoiler :

Swapped the banana up one tile so Bangladesh can be built.

Southwest US and Tijuana
Spoiler :

Added in Arizona by making the copper a flatland plain floodland and moving the cotton of California to Arizona as a flatland plain floodland. Put a resource next to Tijuana to promote Mexican settlement.
uorPjL9.png

Alaska and British Columbia!
Added in another oil in Alaska, allowed more realistic settling of Alaska. Opened up a passage from Washington to Alaska.
pthE2ni.png

Nigeria:
Moved Lagos one left, added coffee and oil, and added a tree resource.
Added Uranium to Chad, while removing the town there from the 1700 map
Fixed the river placement
Move Chad River one to the left, added resources for Chad. Added a city for the 1700 map
Changes to Cameroon and Gabon to support French and German settlement
RJGqRAL.png

EDIT: Add uranium to Gabon plot
Switch ivory and cotton. Then move ivory one up
Remove hill north of the current cotton
Move coffee north of Lagos. No forest or jungle right of Lagos.

I like the way you think ;)

Sure, that sounds good to me.
Also, I think Nassua should be moved up and to the left. Currently it really isn't near where Nassua is.

I hope to move two whales that located near Kaap hoorn into city vicinity. Move west one 1E and east one 1W, and it will encourage Argentina player to settle there.

On the topic of map changes,
here's an Excel map containing the RFC Atlas and the new DOC Atlas, if there's any of you interested how the map has changed since. However it's a very simple Atlas so you won't find things like resources change or forests change in it.

Spoiler :
The RFC Atlas is created on 2010 or 2011, only few months after I join CFC, it was quite scandalous because I was very afraid of piracy blablabla and protect it with password  and the DOC Atlas created just an hour ago.

Nice work there.

A few ideas on Africa:

Add dynamic horse and corn resources around the Johannesburg/Pretoria area. And a wine resource (and maybe wheat too?) in the Cape Town region.
Also, how about adding a row of tiles to the Cape? I've tried it, it doesn't look too bad and could give room for more colonies down there. (And eventually a Boer civ... :mischief:)

And of course, should the Swahili one day be added, there should be a one tile island of Zanzibar off the coast of Mombasa, maybe with spices and some new seafood.

Yes, that would certainly be possible.

I don't think Zanzibar is far enough off the coast to justify that.

Zanzibar is only about 35km off the coast, so I don't think there should be a 1-tile gap. Plus, one tile islands tend to be a little annoying from a gameplay perspective IMO.

I like the ideas about South Africa, though. I find that, besides one city on the eastern coast on the gold, the other cities tend to be... lacking.

I just think that given its importance during the East African slave trade it might be worth an exception. It's not as if there weren't enough space to add it.
I'm fine with not adding it though. Maybe if Swahilis are added someone else might think it's underrepresented too. :)

Maybe add a tile poking out into the ocean and make a city founded there called Zanzibar. It might look a little weird, but I too think that the city should be represented.

As far as I'm concerned, Zanzibar should simply be a city on the coast at the right latitude.

Caucasus needs to change: add Kura River or Kuban, replace desert to plains on south, add fish [famous Caspian sturgeon&black caviar], may be necessary to add an oasis as an analogue of the Caucasian Mineral Waters;)

I think I've even seen it founded by the British once, on the Mombasa tile. Which is a shame, because both were important historically...

Oh! and the oil in the Caspian sea should be moved into Tehran's proximity
and add an oasis north of California's stone to represent Las Vegas
