Mazatl: Feedback, and general questions

Might as well mention it here.

both lizardman races seem a bit economically overpowered. Perhaps it's all the extra food.

In quite a few games I've played, mazatl and/or Cualli always seem to end up in the top 3

I've never seen the Cualli do it outside human control - but the Mazatl are generally up there. Not quite sure what to do about it yet. I had considered taking away their ability to construct/use plot improvements.

Cualli are doing it all the time, as far as I've seen. No more, or less than mazatl.
I think they just have easy acess to too much food.

Also, I'd suggest reducing their jungle combat bonus to 15% (no more and no less). I explained the math behind this in another thread about forests, but I could reiterate if desired.

Well the extra commerce on river jungles is part of it. I say remove that to be in line with the elves. Maybe as a balancing factor for the late game, their food intake could increase to 2.5 per population (not sure how to decide when this happens)

Jungles should grow over hills or be plantable or something. And do so even if there is a mine already. Too many a time I've had an ugly bald spot in my massive jungle because I needed that goldmine. Not that I often see jungles or forests growing over unimproved resources.

I think Maz already in line with Elves. (which I concider to be base line) all races should be bruoght up to this level.

what?

I think the lizardmen are significantly more powerful than elves. They get a 25% (rather than 10) bonus in jungles, AND they can attack across rivers without penalty, giving them significantl more advantage in their home terrain.

And the elves get periodic strength 10 units, which if the elves have a lot of territory (when don't they?) means that your guys are going to get beaten about the head and face HARD on the way in.

I've played several ljosalfar games. The treant spawning is very rare and unreliable.

This thread made me play a game with the Mazatl for the first time, and I have noticed something unexpected (patch K): I can't build improvements over jungle (except swamps of course). So for farms, plantations, cottages, camps and mines, I need to chop the jungle down first. Is this normal? Aslo it takes bloody ages.

I'm pretty sure that's wrong. They've always been able to until now.

If it's intended, It will weaken then a lot, and probably far more than is needed.

Was hoping I'd get the patch out later on before anyone spotted that. It's already fixed - I reverted a change that I shouldn't have whilst trying to setup the Jotnar's civ specific yields for improvements.

With the new patch using standard jungle, does it still spread/grow in Mazatl/Cualli lands like it did before? I remember before a grassland would turn to wetlands, then eventually a jungle would grow, but with the removal of wetlands how does this mechanic work now?

The Cualli are always one of the top AI players in my games. I usually use them as an oponnent because I tend to keep using the civs that do best. Just pointing it out.

ofc the Mazatl do even better, but are weaker despite of it
