"Dontcha want it?" means "Don't you want it?"

"I gotcha." means "I got you", meaning "I understand."

"Didja eat yet?" means "Did you eat yet?"

However, "you betcha" couldn't mean "you bet you." So what the hell does that mean? Yes, I know it is supposed to mean "you bet", but I don't understand what the "cha" sound at the end of the word is for. My best guess is it's completely superfluous.

You bet your life on that?

It clearly means "you bet your". Blimey, remedial Engish class was never this hard ;)

Howdy means "hello" and is not a short version of another word. Bupkis means "nothing" and is also not a short version of another word.

What are these words? Howdy might be 'how do you do'.

Howdy is actually short for "How are you doin?"

Blimey. Learn something about etimology;)

*entymology, my bad ;)

** etymology, drunk again ;)

I have to go with the Shifter here. Cha is short for c'hore which is dumbass for your. Presumably followed by ass or life or bottom dollar or maybe just bottom (that's the one I could picture Palin actually saying).

Thanks for the heads up! I know dumbass talk when I see it ;)

This word is part of a colloquial expression that goes: You bet your sweet life. In stupid slang, the syllables get pared down to "you betcha". It means: you're absolutely right about that!

"You betta you betta you bet! You betta bet your life!"
