Kingdom of Lithuania
Kingdom of Pomerania
Kingdom of Flanders

maybe more....

(Some of the factions above may have been a Duchy, County, or Principality etc. but i just changed the name to kingdom to make it easier.. ;) lol)

Would love any corrections or suggestions on the factions playable, please give me all your critizism. This is definately in the alpha stages, once again help would be great.

Borders and factions are based on what they were at the first crusade, though the game will start at either 1000 A.D. or 1050 A.D. the reason is i want to try and make it as accurate as possible so if i use a map based on lets say 1000 .. by on how europe was at 1100 A.D. It'd be off balance, and there'd be new kingdoms and borders chnaged dramatically, also at 1000 A.D. there are factions that havnt emerged yet that play a crucial role in the middle ages, this was all done to help make it more accurate due to the middle ages.. but you have to remember the whole point of this scenario is to change and write your own chapter in the books of history :)

EDIT: This map is using ares' de borg's new terrain set, its very nice.. i am nearly done with city placement in western europe.. just got Iberia and and left then i'll be moving on to the rest of the map ;)

NEED - Help with city placement and names, seams to be a bit hard to find enough cities and names with such a large map in use around the time of 1000 - 1500. I am going to be very dedicated to this mod, and I will be working on it endlessly to make this mod worth playing, extremely fun, and historically accurate, I'll keep you Posted. Once again If anyone is willing to help comment below.

Thank You,
Lord Cooper ;)

P.S. Comments are wanted, and always accepted lol, please comment :)

Many sets i have made can be used in it; byzantine, possibly a russian one, and then at least the first two eras of the viking set, one for norse civs and the second for central and western euro civs ;)

You might wanna change the names from Kingdom of X to Xian Kingdom, that way you can actually differ between them in the F8 screen;)

You already did it with some of the empires and caliphates.

Always happy to see a medieval scenario being started up. :)

Can you link us to the map (couldn't find it) and / or post a screenie of it so we can get an idea of the area this plays over. That would help loads.

Here are some extra resources for your assistance...

This Europe map by Aldaron is pretty much spot on for the list of civs you have. The list runs very much the same as the civs to feature in a medieval scenario I have been sketching out. However, the following are sorely lacking for this time period:

~ Spain (as one or as Castille and Aragorn prior to unifying, I'd forget Leon)
~ Portugal

You can't leave out these two from a 1000-1500 time period of Europe! :nono:

~ Flanders perhaps in the Low Countries area?

Now, I found that this lands you with quite an extensive list of civs. My first list ended up with 32. That spells lots of units moving around the board, lots of slowing down and also you start getting toward the civ limit. I chose to axe my list down by grouping certain civs together. For example, Ireland, Scotland and Wales got put together. I'm considering the same for the Scandinavian countries. You may want to chop the list down for sleekness but then you may want to have many there. Just saying this to make you aware.

For city and civ placement, also for seeing other civ options, these maps are helpful.

You might need these maps if you want to get more specific about your resource placement.

Plenty of wonders and tech trees have been created for this period already. Check the scenarios board for good ones you can steal gain inspiration from.

the map im using at http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=1375996#post1375996 its a bit big rather and i would really llove a new one, might have to request one giving i am no good at making maps lol. and varwnos i really like those city graphics i think i might use those thanks, and the map i used for this is http://www.euratlas.com/big/big1000.htm so i didnt forget spain or portugal, leon in a way is spain. Kk thanks much for your replys guys, very much apreciated, keep posting! :)

would anyone be interested in helping me on this mod?

hey i changed Leon to Castile :)

also i would like to add the turks but saljuq came and gone and ottoman is later on .. should i just add a group named Turks?

any suggestions on this

P.S. guys thanks for your comments its helping a lot keep posting! ;)

also i would love for a new map .. anyone able to help me on this, im no good at making maps :p

hrmmm really? I'll look into that.. might have to change that... lol sorry stormy ;) ..

Lord Cooper: The Turks would be a fitting solution for that problem in Anatolia. I grappled with this one myself, Ottomans, Seljuks, errrr 1000-1500AD...there's an overlap. Turks is the way forward and a good solution. And by the way, I see that frontier between the 'Turks' and Byzantium / Eastern Rome as one of the most important / active / contested areas on such a map and in this time period. The other big dynamic areas would be:

~ N. Italy: Frederick Barabarossa's Holy Roman Empire vs. the Vatican (but I'm going to manifest this with 'priest' units as well as military I think).
~ Iberia: Castille / Aragorn & Portugal vs. the Moors in Spain and North Africa (whatever you decide to call them).
~ Some toomfoolery across the English channel between France and England.

I've even got the Golden Horde appearing on the east of my plans but then again, my map goes right across to Japan .

Keep asking the questions, I'm sure we can solve them all together.

hey im thinking of changing the caliphate of cordoba into either the alamohads or the moors... would be more reasonable dont ya think? and about spain, portugal, and aragon as three different civs might be difficult.. i'm thinking im going to just add aragon as for portugal comes later in the middle ages then these two.. also i was planning on that with french and english also spain vs moors lol... im going to start on a new map, i have everything picked out i believe ;)... i'll be working on the map later today.. kk guys laterrr :)

Just for options: I'm going for Castille and Aragorn as one. ie. Spain. Portugal as a separate one. Dunno what I will name the Moors but they have cities all over modern day, northern Morocco and Tunisia. I am giving them one city in southern Spain, Granada, which Spain will compete for, with difficulty. (If I had a bigger Iberia on my map I would include Toledo, Cordoba etc, but I don't). Portugal will be pushed towards competing for Cueta in North Africa. Units/techs/etc will be used to give Spain and Portugal the edge over time :)

What are your plans for clashes between the Pope in the Vatican and the Holy Roman Empire? Has anyone else got suggestions for particular cities and sieges that should be included in such a scenario?

EDIT: Just got your email Lord Cooper. Thanks. It's better to talk here for others to benefit and input. In answer to your question: Here is the thread which explains what I have in mind. It's based on history but will run along almost fantasy lines ie. medieval fantasies, and will include a spiritual/religious economy with resources, luxuries, unit types etc. You'll see that it includes the whole world as medieval Europe knew it, so there's all sorts of other stuff I have going on.

hey.. im just sceptical about putting portugal in there.. im making this scenario more early middle age based.. and portugal didnt exist just yet.. thats also why i added kingdom of leon instead of castile but i changed it to castile and so on.. the boundaries and etc, im gonna use is ffor this scenario is from this map http://www.euratlas.com/big/big1000.htm .. lol i might end up putting portugal in there if i get enough requests .. i might not.. the scenario is from about 1000-1500 or maybe ill make it 900-1400 or hey 800-1300 im not exactly sure what ima be doing at this particular moment when it comes to that.. im working on the map now... but all the factions you see up there will be in this scenario, possibly some extras ;) lol
