Medieval Europe - 1000 A.D.

hehe i know... thanks a ton for that.. im just seeing what my options are really.. not sure if i want late dark ages and early to mid middle ages or all middle ages or mid to early renaisance or however its spelt lol... really depends on my best options i guess :)

I guess you must ponder on what initially attracted you to the time period. Then focus in on that feature. The precise time period of the scenario may well follow.

For example, I was particularly interested in the great vacuum in understanding that existed about the farthest reaches of the world. That gave me the whole Ancient Age to Renaissance (that's how you spell it :D ). But I was specifically interested in the European (Christian) religious fantasies that came about to fill that vacuum. All the wonderful bestiaries, beliefs and superstitions that populated those illuminated manuscripts that I have such a fetish and interest for. (I'm using an old medieval map as the basis). It's a richly fantastical world, based on a logic quite removed from our's today. > That narrowed it down to the Middle Ages into the Renaissance. So I'm going to still with roughly the same time period as you will be. :)

ahhh lol kk.. well then probably 1000-1500 .. what interests me the most is english history.. so tensions between them france and scotland should be very hostile ;) .. also i want to somehow incorporate crusades or find a way to make it so the AI wants to capture land on the eastern med .. hehe and on renaissance i left out an "s" .. wasnt too bad :)

Flanders never was a kingdom, it was a county. And in 1000AD, it was part of France. It became "independant" only in 1305. Flanders would be perfect for a scenario about XIV-XVI, but not so early.

aye... thats exactly why i didnt add it from the start but someone suggested it as apropriate.. i never was inntially gonna have it there.. i was gonna think about it hence the * next to it.. thanks for your input thought ;) .. i was going to get rid of em' anyhow

MaisseArsouye: Thanks for the Flanders clarification. Any suggestions for alternatives for the region? You've got quite a few in your scenario but which one would you choose over such a long timeframe?

In that time, there was more wealth along River Meuse than along the shore. Holland and Flanders had to wait to know their golden era. But the choosen start fits the beginning of the golden era of the Principalty of Liège. Liège was even called the Athens of the North.

I tried to make a leaderhead for this : Bishop-Prince Notger.

But it was a very small state, not even half Belgium. So, on the map it would be only one city ( Liège ), maybe two ( Bouillon, Dinant ? ).

so what should i call the faction? i kinda wanna make it - kingdom of ______ (reason posted in first post) anyways.. get back to me ;)

That hill fort is actually a city gfx, but I guess it can be turned into a fort gfx.

ahh didnt see the second post sorry hehe .. yeah i was looking at the hill fort graphics.. im goigng to look into how i can convert it into a fort graphics.. thanks bud ;)

yeah its labeled as "rHILLFORT" which is for use as city graphics, im just not quite sure how i would make it so it can be used as a fortress gfx,

i just probably have to format the pcx file right to get it, probably as easy as that. :)

EDIT: changed the name of the file to TerrainBuildings and worked.. but its extremely buggy.. since the pcx file is for city graphics only, it doesnt work right for fortress also it messes up the goody huts, colonies, ofcoarse since its all included in the TerrainBuildings file, im not gonna mess with the files at the moment hehe, just gonna search for different gfx to use to see if i can find what im looking for.

worst case scenario is i'll just have to use the generic fort gfx which isnt too bad for the medieval time frame ;)

yes a little. I have my whole map set up already. just gotta do city placement, and get a new fort gfx..

the resources, terrain graphics, city graphics etc etc are all done... i know how to mod outside of EDITOR hehe.. just trying to figure out how to use the city gfx to convert it so i can use it for fort gfx.. ;)
