Meet the Modders

Just got the email from its editor. It is a reality now... I am VERY happy :D

It is a 5000-7000 copy weekly newspaper of Greek interest, with a bilingual edition. A great start for my career outside this country...

I am still very anxious though. Will remain so until i get the copy...

Things are looking better today, and we have another Doctor check tomorrow. Hopefully, that will go better than Monday. The surgeon is very good, as is the corpsman that we are working with. I am retired military so we are using the nearby military hospital. Working with and changing the surgery dressing is not the problem. It just brings back memories of the night I had to okay pulling life support on my first son. That makes it a bit rough. My son is 21, and this is the first time he has really had any major surgery done.

*cross fingers* For one second I read 'corpseman' and you got me scared there.

Thank you :)

Yes, i hope i will be translated to at least english (i think the newspaper will have a translation to english of the story, but i am not entirely certain) by then. Iirc there are some greek writers living in Sweden, although they write in Swedish now.

I'm in a sort of vacation (from my wife :p). She attends a seminar with her company, and so she left for a few days, and will be back tomorrow.

So I'm alone with the kids, and this evening, we have a great adventure planned: we have to do the shopping for next week :run:

I wonder what we will forget to buy

Apart from being published in an english newspaper (weekly, of Greek interest, selling around 5-7K copies each week), i recently became a member of the Australian-Greek association of writers, based in Sydney. Possibly this opens the road for some publications in their journal...

So i am feeling that my work is being slowly rewarded. Still things are pending, like publication of a book, but at least i am becomming more and more known. :)

I doubt this will affect my work in CivIII, but it might, if i have less time than usual.

Anyway just wanted to share this success with some of you here :)

I'm going to be moving to Germany for the month of July, starting with a conference in Freiburg, then heading to Dresden again for a few weeks. This will let me work in their library and archives to get sources, as well as test the waters to see if I want to live there with my girlfriend in a year.

Some more news about literature:

-A fourth magazine accepted to publish one of my stories

-In talks with two more magazines, three newspapers and two publishing houses...

Timerover, good news?

It looks like we are over the worst period. He is up to traveling to Milwaukee, about 45 minutes to an hour for his night classes at MSOE (aka Milwaukee School of Engineering), and I am driving him as he is still on painkillers. He is also using a donut and pillow to still on as he has about a 3 inch long incision in his lower back. Later today, we are going to see how he does trying to work at his job in the IT department there, if only two days a week for now. It will make for some long days with the commute, but it comes with the territory. If nothing else, I will have some time while up there to play around with Civ3.

And it's very good news! Great news next time, deal? :)

Next follow-up appointment with the surgeon is Friday, so I will post what he has to say. My son did manage to work a full day at the IT department, but as he puts it, he has a genuine, honest-to-goodness "pain in the butt." So far, no more bleeding problems, but he is not exactly enthused about dressing changes, which have to be done daily.
