Maybe? I joined CFC in 2003 but I was poking around in the editor a bit before that on my own. Map-making, at least. Not sure if I qualify as "active" anymore.

Anyway, more big changes for me this year. I recently moved again to Houston Texas, where I'm working at Johnson Space Center for a small contracting firm as a software simulation engineer and learning to use "y'all" in conversation. The move also prompted me to finally rebuild my desktop PC which has been bricked since Windows committed seppuku back in September. Now while I consider upgrade options I'm rocking Ubuntu on 7 year old hardware, so @nick0515 I'll be sure to put your research to practice, thanks for that.

I sent him an invitation to the CCM2 betatest, but unfortunately until now I didn´t receive any reply..

I correspond with him via email and have other ways to contact him as well. I've heard from him since he last posted - at that time he said he was taking a break from CFC to deal with some RL stuff. Because of my move I've neglected to contact him in a while. I'll do so & see what I can find out.

Just received a long email from Ozymandias. He's still with us.

Insofar as the gang at Civ go, I'd ask you to be as honest as you see fit - "Officially From Oz" and whatnot.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who is aware that he has some health issues of long-standing, including a degenerative condition that falls under the MS umbrella. During the last year specific incidents related to that - such as a bad fall on a public street due to muscle failure - have kept him away from CFC. I knew that much already, but had not been given permission explicitly to say as much.

Not to say it was all bad times for him this past year - I know he was well enough to take a relaxing trip to Europe at one point.

It turns out that there were several other incidents I was not aware of that have made the last year very trying for him. He wrote "I do expect to be around for a time" - meaning over a decade, in context. He has decided to give up participation in CFC - out of necessity, as part of marshalling his forces to continue to live as well as possible.

He has promised to stay in touch with me, and I will certainly pass along any important news to everyone here. And will willingly pass on any messages to him as well.

Thanks for the info Blue Monkey. I am glad that Ozy is well. He was always a good person! I hope the best for him, and perhaps on occasion if he decides to drop in and say hi would be nice.
