If it speeds things up, just do it. People should take the time to make up proper titles anyway, that graphic aid is for the illiterate...il..lit...illlerletleiterateteds among us.
I think if they're to stay then change/update the ones that are available to use - some of them seem to be pretty useless or quite unrelated to the thread topic when you actually come to read it

Yep, just what I was thinking. Like the butterfly and yin-yang icons, what are they there for? And I think a confused icon could be added. Just think of how many times that that would be useful...
I think we should keep them but perhaps change out a few as has already been suggested in this thread. Perhaps the butterfly, yin yang, and HI! icons could be swapped out for more useful icons. Some suggestions would include a smiley and a confused smiley.
Get rid of the message icons (not the in message smilies though). I hate seeing the thumbs down or people vomiting over stuff before I get to see what it is about. Good example, the Lula gets elected thread in off topic... sharpe put a thumbs down with it because he disagreed with the politics but it is THE thread to discuss that election on and most of the rest of us would give Lula a thumbs up.

Well, I thought that the butterfly one is Becka's 'special' icon. As for the yinyang one, we used that sometimes during our past succession games and now PBEM ones. For some reason. I remembered AoA used the Hi! one quite frequently too.
I'm pretty ambivalent about them, as I almost never use them. If you want to get rid of those, I won't miss 'em. Seriously, though, how much load time would it save?
