Messing with Barbarian tribe names

I'm in the process of playtesting my scenario, where I've changed the names of the barbarian tribes. The new names work fine when I take a Goody Hut. However, when I disperse a barbarian encampment, sometimes the message that appears says "We have dispersed a (box symbol) encampment".

It seems to depend on which civ I'm playing, because with some civs it works fine, and with others the message is even weirder (several Y's, A's and brackets that run across the screen causing the game to freeze up).

Anyone know what may be causing this to happen? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hm, I haven't experienced this myself, but I *believe* all the official name-lists end with a line break. Did you put one at the end of yours? Wild guessing though, could be something completely different :).

While I have really try it myself, I notice that the barbarian tribe's name appear in the game relates to the Civ you are playing. This means the barbarian names are actually tie in to the culture you choose to play.

So, I believe the list must have a certain line break to tell the program where the barbarian tribe's name end for each culture. Therefore, if you can identify the list tie in to each culture and leave the last one (ie the one with the line break) alone then you should be alright :king:

Okay, thanks for the help. I'll check to see if I left line breaks. I used the editor to change the barbarian tribe names (under the Civilizations tab). Would I need to change another file somewhere else?

I think I have the problem with the barbarian tribe names fixed. In a standard Civ game there are 75 different tribe names, plus a generic Barbarian name (making 76 total, not including the line break). I only had 73 total tribe names in my list, so by adding three more it seems to have fixed the problem (plus I made sure to include a line break as well). I guess the game expects there to be exactly 76 barbarian tribe names.
