Might Karl Rove go to jail?

I'm hoping the truth of Rove's involvement or lack of it will come out in the next few days. Annoying to think one of Bush's best friends and advisors might have intentionally revealed the identity of a CIA agent for political revenge. I'm sure most liberals in the country would love to see Rove discredited, myself included, but I find it hard to believe he would do something that stupid.

Currently, one reporter, Judith Miller is in jail for contempt of court after refusing to reveal her source, but another reporter for Time Magazine has been released from his confidentiality pledge after the magazine said it would release what information it had anyway. A third reporter, Robert Novak, who actually first published an article with this information, seems to be sitting pretty. Some say this is because of his good relationship with the Bush administration, but again, I don't buy that because it would just be stupid of Bush, especially after knowing the truth was going to come out.

If Rove did leak this name, it will probably take a Presidental pardon to keep him out of jail. I'm sure Bush would be quite willing, but Rove himself might advise against it.

As much as Id love to see Rove hauled off to jail, I dont think it will ever happen. The press is too cowed these days. Nobody in the press is even asking why Judith Miller is in jail, and Novak is free. The powers that be will put the fix in and make this go away, and the press will let them. I really hope Im wrong about that.

Actually, they talk about it on NPR at least 5 times a day. Of course, that might have something to do with them being free of any corporate influence...

The worst part of this whole thing was watching the reporters talk about their friend's trial on TV. All pretenses of being unbiased were thrown right out the window. Oh and I wouldn't mind Rove getting it for this but doubt that he will even be charged.

I love NPR and even I only listen to it briefly in the mornings most of the time. Sadly, if NPR is talking about it, theyre just preaching to the choir. The 'real' media, that controls the vast majority of morons, is all that would really count in a case like this. But please reality, prove me wrong! Id love to see Rove re-enacting that scene from 'Deliverance'!

But the press won't conduct the trial. I think that, if Rove is the source, it's more likely he'd be charged with perjury for lying to the grand jury rather than the untested "CIA Outing" law.

And, yeah, wouldn't you just love to see Rove in the "perp walk" with a coat over his head? Probably too much to wish for.

That would be great but I'm sure he'd be allowed to surrender, but one can dream. And perjury/obstruction are the most likely much easier to get just ask Martha Stewart.

I know what you mean, but the news media is a giant spotlight on what government does. The media is too scared of the Republican party and their minions. Look how the media has been trained like a dog in the past few months: Dan Rather, Newsweek and Guantanamo. They'll never dare to contradict the Administration about a major issue again. As soon as the media spotlight is off of an issue, it might as well never have existed at all.

If Rove gave up the name of a covert operative for domestic political reasons, he should be drawn and quartered. Political operatives can do prison time, just ask some Nixon administration ex-cons.

How about if he closes the case without issuing indictments? Would the media press the issue? I doubt it. Would the media dare to imply that the inquiry is fixed, and risk invoking the wrath of the millions of retards controlled by the RNC through FOX, and fascist hate radio? Nope.
